WARNING! PCF Member @Kid Donk and eBayer 'dan9955air'

His name is REMOVED from Lewiston, NY (also Youngstown, NY - across the street basically)

I recently sold a few racks of Palais des Congres chips on eBay. One of the bidders, dan9955air, was the winning bidder on my auction. He clearly won the listing with a snipe bid as it was placed exactly 1 second before auction end, and with the exact bid of $451.99. However, it took his full bid amount as there was another bid just barely below his at $449.52, which was less than the $5 minimum increment, so his full bid won the auction. Apparently he didn't like that though, he only wanted to bid that high to win it at a lower price, not his full price. He requested to "cancel" his bid AFTER the 10 day auction ended, giving me some bullshit line about his computer "freezing" on him at the last second, LOLOL... please. Frozen computers don't place bids, and they sure as shit don't snipe either. Obviously, I declined the request to cancel because that's bullshit. So what does he do? He pays for the item, forcing me to send it to him, then berates me via PM. I ship the chips out to him (knowing full well he's about to scam me, but what can I do? it's eBay afterall...) and wouldn't you know it, the scumbag sends them back to me and writes up some super long played out drama bullshit response on eBay claiming the chips weren't as described and sends photos of a few chips with very minor rack check marks on the face and one chip which looks like it had some ink on it from a pen. The chips were listed as ranging from excellent to near mint, which they most certainly are.

Then, I honor his request to return the chips, (paying for the shipping both ways of course) and what does he do? He leaves me negative feedback after getting his money!

You're a real stand-up guy @Kid Donk (y)

Hmm. I get why you sent them out, but don't you think sometimes it's easier to just cancel the bid. Nothing good can come from a guy who really doesn't want the item. I'd be worried a customer would break some chips and claim shipping damage or something.

Ya, but I wasn't expecting him to pay for them. I wanted a non-paying bidder strike to go against him. Once he paid for them, I knew exactly what he was going to do, but my hands were tied at that point. I had to send the chips. My only other option would have been to scam him back by saying he didn't return them, or that he only returned some of them, but I'm obviously not going to do that. Figured I'd just post a warning here instead and report him on eBay.

Anyhow, I'm buying a house and my wife is pregnant. I'm over it. I have better things to worry about...

Chips relisted.

He doesn't know that I knew his PCF name. He wouldn't tell me on eBay. But he's Kid Donk here

SMD Kid Donk

True. You def have bigger things to worry about.

I have no idea what the situation here was. Years ago, I lobbed a stupid high bid on some chips, to make sure I won. I lost, but my bid was three times the next highest bid. The winning bidder backed out, so I received a second chance offer, at my max bid, because that's how eBay works. I don't think the original winner was a shill, but there's no way I'm going to pay 3x the next highest bid in a situation like that. I have no idea what eventually happened with the chips, but that's one reason to not let someone back out: no guarantee that the second bidder will accept.

Sadly, I think the lesson here is DO NOT sell on Feebay. They will always side with the buyer. In fact I've never heard of a case that didn't in some way punish the seller.

Tough break, man. Sorry to hear it.

I once sold a game on eBay... It still had shrink wrap on it... The shrink wrap was shredded/torn, but not enough to get inside the box. I listed it as mint. The winner got the game and lodged a complaint (even though the condition and the shrink wrap was properly described and photographed). eBay sided with me and told the buyer to pound sand.

Now you have heard of one time.

Sorry RM. People shouldn't bid an amount they don't want to pay. Seems simple to me. And thanks for the warming.

And congrats to you and your wife! Now you will have someone to inherit all your chipes :D

What is this slander? I didnt think there was this kind of nasty trolling on here, the site seems great. Is this really the place to have to defend a bad eBay transaction? I have already bought and sold lots of chips here probably 8 or 9 great purchases and even sold Troyman several hundred chips!

We had a back and forth with offers recently on these quarters. PM me and let's get it done outside of eBay - save us both a couple of bucks.

I'll be happy to once I get guidance I don't want it to devolve into any infamous other sites
Well, is Rainman's account of the transaction accurate?

No! Of course not, but I don't think it's appropriate in anyway to have a tit for tat and have it devolve into this sort of public tarring and feathering. How can I defend myself against someone with 3k posts and the bully pulpit! Not to mention the lack of that sort of vitriol is why this site is unique and awesome :)

Oh was that you? Wilco, will pm. BTW I played in Guiness' home game a bunch of times back in the day when i lived in NH. Ask him if I ever did anything shady or scandalous. This whole public shaming thing is sophomoric. I just bought 2 racks of motor city quarters on here, 3 racks of Crystal City $5's, and on and on. All awesome deals and totally pleasant and seamless!

While I completely agree that is this usually a good site full of comradery, keep in mind that protecting other members here is also what makes this site and its users unique.
So if there is a reasonable explanation I would say that a member's posts or standing is irrelevant and as a member would want to vindicate myself.

My 2c

You might want take responding publicly seriously. The description of what happened by RMT was pretty clear and would justify putting you on the do not deal with list.

Time for some screen shots I guess. I'll post our exact conversation when I get time, as well as the pics he submitted to eBay if the "damage" ... Not that I have any time for this sort of bullshit though...

Listen I know this can be a kind of traumatic experience and seeing those chips laying around your house is going to bring up some bad memories. I volunteer to take those chips off your hands, just send them my way and I will gladly take them out of your sight. I'll even pay for shipping. J/K

Please stop slandering, defaming, and otherwise intentionally manipulating our eBay sale in a false light. You have already tried posting personal information here in a retaliatory way in your first post.
