So the ESPN Live Streams from previous years of the WSOP have been transformed to be available only on the PokerGo website/app (owned by Poker Central). The main differences...

  • Lon and Norman are doing the commentary
  • Instead of a final table most every day, they're streaming a featured table including the final table of about 15-30 tournaments
  • It's a paid service
  • The production quality is superior
  • Sadly, almost nothing other than No Limit Hold'em
I've paid my $10 and found it to be worth it.

Anyone else checking this out?

Yes, but I am so disappointed in the selection of events to be covered. If I counted correctly, they are covering only three non-NLHE events: one HORSE and two PLO tournaments. So sad. When I think of what we had last year . . . :(

When i found out about the lack of mixed games I basically wrote the service off. Having the rotating cast of characters such as Rast, Schulman, Bart Hanson was what made the free one so great to me. The fact that it is now a paid service that caters more to a casual viewer makes no sense to me since the audience that will pay is not usually a casual poker viewer.

Exactly!!!

That's why I was not to excited about PokerCentral purchasing the WSOP broadcasting rights...

Gone is the best part of the whole summer (other than playing the events), which were all the mixed game events with Tuck and awesome guests... Bummer...

TBH I've only ever watched them on YouTube - forgive the possibly daft question but will these still be available (at some point in the future?) If not, this does indeed suck truly.

They'll likely be available on YouTube but you're mileage may vary since it's copyrighted content and could easily get taken down.

My oh my. That time of the year again. Where did this year go???

Thanks for the headsup. Will check it out. Hope it's available for us europeans.

I'll donk off $10 or $15 in the online tournaments here half the nights of the week without a second thought. I'll drop $10 for a cool looking single chip on eBay at a whim. But I do NOT want to pay a dime for this content. Can't they just make me watch stupid commercials?

I've tried it but will be asking for a refund. The connectivity and support are astonishingly awful. I mostly use a kindle tablet and they block the video in the browser and won't offer the app. I predict it'll go belly up in less than a year.

Found this on WSOP.com live updates for $10K O8:

Phil Hellmuth strolled over to see the two remaining players heads up and asked if it's been live streamed and was told no.

The floor man who was announcing the action decided to give Hellmuth the mic and Hellmuth opened with "Two of the greatest players ever and there's no stream" and went on to take over announcing the action and has been doing an excellent job to boot.

Exactly. (n)

I have been following the $10k Omaha Hi-Lo tournament at the WSOP site. It has been a tough match, especially at three-handed; now it's heads up between Negreanu and Mosseri. It would have been perfect for streaming as in past years.

Seems like everything else about the PokerCentral takeover sorta sucks, event coverage, number of streams, etc... but losing the Nov 9 is still a plus. :whistling:;)

How is this not a massive improvement over earlier years? I can only remember reading twitter updates and other written updates. Have never really been able to follow the wsop to be honest because of this, but maybe there have been some "US only" content available that i have not been aware of. Would obv love more mixed games as well, and have no clue why they dont stream that, but according to Remko on the pokercentral podcast they will keep doing this next year and probably improve it a lot and add more content and other tourneys.

@WSOP tweeted:

BREAKING NEWS: @PokerGO will show @RealKidPoker v Abe Mosseri in the $10K Omaha High-Low at 2:30 PT, followed by Day 1 of $10,000 NL HU

Whoopee!!!!!!!:D:D:D(y)(y)(y)

Cool stream eh? I like that they made the snap decision to change the schedule. Sadly headsup only lasted 4 hands but it was still neat.

I was just about to fork over the $10, in hopes of seeing one of the final 5 tables in the $1500 mixed 8 games tournament - I'm rooting for Daniel across the board this year, and he's presently 14th out of the remaining 26 (472 entered) with 15 big blinds and exactly half the big stack. Exciting, right? But it looks like they're not streaming anything right now. What a kick in the nuts. I'd love to watch some of this right now - any table! Take my ten dollars!

I know it's crazy. The final tables are being held in the 'thunderdome' where the shows get filmed but they don't film/air it. They must be understaffed or something. Shame but I'll take what I can get. Hopefully they'll improve on it next year.

It says their next live event is on Wednesday.
Today is Sunday.
They'll be playing constantly between now and then, and there will be a few final tables between now and then.
But no live coverage between now and then?
Maybe there just isn't enough interest? I guess I'll keep my $10.

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I think the Main Event coverage on ESPN is actually better this year. I like the 3 main table format, and actually seeing real hands playing out, as opposed to "Look at this, this guy only has 1 out or he gets knocked out - OH MY he hit his ONE OUT".

All the other coverage... (n) but I'll take what improvement I can get.
