First, a question about hot-stamps:

IMG_20170415_122604471[1]-min.jpg

Here are a few of the newer hot-stamped chips I have above. @SuckoutKing 's blaze orange lion being my absolute favorite. The desert oasis $100 is very nice too because I like the hot-stamp to be really pressed in creating more of a recess. It makes the stamp look much nicer IMO. The other 3 chips are not as deep. Anyone out there able to explain this difference to me and suggest somewhere I have chips stamped that would result in a deeper stamp? (if this is even necessary)

Ok, back to the T-molds. I purchased 1000 of these chips a little while ago thinking they would be my only opportunity to own a set of T-molds. Now that I managed to get a Samurai Palace set I have slightly considered the possibility of letting these go. My creativity has not come up with anything yet, but hot-stamping them was the plan. Anyone that would like to suggest anything (particularily different foil colors or other uses for the odd chips) feel free to do so.

Tourney set plan:

240 Sherbert Green T25s
240 Charcoal T100s
120 Lavender T500s
170 Canary Yellow T1,000s
100 Chocolate T5,000s
12 Hot Pink T25,000s

This was my idea for the other colors, but not sure if they're all necessary:

50 Royal Red Bounty chips
30 Dark Green Re-buy chips
Seating chips:
10 Grey
10 Dark Blue
10 Purple

Initial plan was 30 players with T10,000 (or bigger) starting stacks:

8 x T25
8 x T100
4 x T500
7 x T1,000 (adjust with T5,000s where necessary)

But now I think it would be better as a 2 table set with 12 x T25 and 12 x T100 per player. Would still work in a pinch for 3 tables though.

Thanks all!

Frank, you have a great set there. I think your tournament colors are spot-on, with the possible exception of the chocolate. You can double-check with @BGinGA but I wouldn't want the black 100's and the chocolates on the table at the same time, not sure if this is typical or if the hundos would be colored up at that point. You have a lot of options with various foil colors. Look at chiptalk to see if any of the old hotstamp photos are still there, I know mine were deleted by photobucket. There were some great t-mold stamps, one in particular had some color-matched foil, i.e. dark green on the mint green chips and dark blue on the light blue chips, etc. Suckoutking was really good with stamping, he can give you some advice on that as well as @cgraham86 , @monkeydog , and @meatboy . Please, for the love of God, do not sell these chips.

Thanks all!
I have it from a good source that says each different color stamps properly at a different temperature. You may need to adjust the temperature for each color to get a consistent depth through you whole set.

Chocolate was not my first choice, rather what I thought was the best option of what was left. I'm pretty sure I would have chosen horizon blue instead if they were available.

FYP if that makes any difference :)

If this set were used for 30 people, it would be inevitable to have the T100s and T5,000s on the table at the same time. Maybe use different foil colors on these two chips in particular?

For some reason, I'm not minding the chocolate right now. I'm thinking with a gold stamp they might just look ok.

Sherbert green : Red foil
Charcoal : Silver foil
Lavender : Green foil
Canary Yellow : Black foil
Chocolate : Gold foil
Hot pink : Blue foil

Not much difference between charcoal and chocolate I know, but just my best guess as to what colors I think would look decent together (using all the different colors I have heard of)

Oh, and:

Please, for the love of God, do not sell these chips.

I'm very easily convinced to keep poker chips :) (unless MAYBE there were a trade offer that I could not refuse  :whistling:)

That's actually true. Certain colors are harder/softer than others. Yellows and sherbert greens for example are harder to stamp than the purples/lavenders and blacks. Here's some other thoughts:

1. I would avoid the temptation to use black foil. It's really hard to get right and since the canary yellows are harder to stamp it would be difficult to do w/o taking the risk of having some mis-stamps. That's because black probably won't be a metalic foil, and metalics are just easier to stamp and they look better. Non-metalics show a lot of flaws. Otherwise the rest are all possible. By the way brilliant gold looks fantastic on just about every single T-mold color (see attached), but overall here's the rule of thumb: simpler is better. If you use multiple colors that's great, but usually I try to talk people into using just a couple because it can make the whole set look a but "cartoonish". Silver, gold, maybe a red or blue, but green has only looked good in a couple of cases.

2. You might consider switching the lavenders and yellows since the T100/T500 ends up being the work horse chips. Or go with a T2000 chip instead of a T1000 if you think it's odd having a lavender T1000 chip. It would also help the fact that you're stretching this set pretty thin for 30 players.

3. The "depth" look you're going for is a combination of heat and pressure. All hotstamping involves pushing the foil into the surface of the chip. The material that pushes out on the edges causes that rich looking "3D" illusion. Overstamping can cause that, and if unintentional it can look really bad or prevent the chip from stacking. As long as the inlay is deep enough to allow that generally it works out.

4. T-molds can be slightly cupped in the center from time to time, which means the outer part of the die will stamp deeper than the inner part. So that's something to watch out for from one color to the next.

5. The inlay can often be a tiny bit off-center, and can be difficult to spot to center the stamp. In other words not every blank is equal.

6. overall I found that a 13/16" diameter die works pretty well with these.

@cgraham86 Thank you for the guidance. :)

1. The cartoony look with all the different foil colors did occur to me. The main chip I did not think gold foil would work for is the canary yellow. Maybe if I alternated between silver and gold between denominations they'd all look really good.

2. I am content with this set working for just 2 tables. If I really wanted to make it work better for 3 tables I couuuld add some T100s and T500s, but I don't think I would be happy with juggling the yellow and lavender chips. Some people would disagree with me but if I were to use a T2000 chip, in this case I think I'd have to make it canary yellow (if I had enough T500 chips).

3. What are the costs of making custom dies? I could go with a generic stamp as shown in your pics, but something unique might be nicer.

Yeahhh, I don't think these chips are going anywhere lol. T-molds stack better than any chip I have ever seen, and are the only chips I could use for a custom hot-stamped set.

Hologram effect huh? Would be nice to see some pics :)

Gave away all I had left at last year's Shootout after selling off the bulk of the set. Regrets... Can't recall who all got some but @Poker Zombie might have picked up a couple...They were absolutely stunning...

I claimed one, and it is confirmed stunning.

I also had a video of said chip (I think in the S@P III thread), but I just switched to Windows 10 and the POS decided to hide all my files in locations that I don't want them so now I cannot find anything. WIN 10 is a shill to make you use/buy Windows One Drive

Looking at this chip to recenter myself... Hello happy place...

You guys are making me very glad I started this thread! Now I'm just gonna have to get a little creative...

If anyone is still able to do holograms in the future, I'm going to have to decide how many denoms I want with such treatment. My initial thought is maybe just the bigger ones.

Who needs oversize chips when you've got holograms!

Well, I don't think I can edit the thread title anymore, but I just picked up what I believe to be some horizon blue solids. The only problem for this set is they are already hot-stamped so if I wanted to use them together it looks like I'd have to mill all these chips instead of stamping them!

Horizon blue would have likely been my T5000 color. As cool as these are, I don't think they would work very well in my set as is:

@slisk250 tells me these were once @abby99 's chips. I'm sure they look a lot nicer in daylight!

If I were to leave them as is, maybe I bought 200 chips so I could use a few of them as re-buy chips? :ROFLMAO:

Yes, my picture here sucks and makes they look gray. I'm not 100% sure of the color but looks like horizon blue to me.

It's ok, I think I posted a little too quickly on this one. Just wondering how else I could use your chips other than milling them!

I could always wait until they reach me and take a picture myself! :)

No new pics yet, but I'm not a huge fan of sherbert green, so I'm tempted to go with something like this:

16 player set (50k starting stacks)

T100 x 15 (charcoal)
T500 x 7 (lavender)
T1000 x 10 (canary yellow)
T5000 x 7 (horizon blue)

And hot pink as T25,000

250BB starting at 100/200, BGinGA structure as per usual... :)

The cost to mill these would likely delay this project for quite a long time. And if I ever see a holographic hot-stamp, I may have to reconsider milling and find out who could do similar stamps for me...
