We are getting very close to sending inlays to CPC. We had two different layout ideas going. I thought it would be an easy choice but learned that the most difficult thing in getting different designs from J5 is you like them all. Here are three sets that have made it to the final cut. There are only 7 chips. The rebuy/add on is dual inlay. Here are some things we are considering.

For the black inlays, we could swap the denom color on the 100 and 2000 chip making them light blue and pink respectively but otherwise, this design is almost complete (Johnny might play with the color of some of the character's clothes).

We are considering a dual inlay chip and using the black inlays and gradient with red denoms, however, we are not sure we like that with the color matching on the blacks. In that case we could try to color match the denoms on both. This is a challenge for a couple of the gradient chips. Maybe dual is the way to go. The big question in poker terms...can I get away from either of these hands designs? I like them both.

Your turn...

I'm usually a fan of black inlays but not for this set. I don't like the white outline on the characters.

I think the color gradient looks great. It's really tough choice between the red and black denoms on these - which is saying a lot because I usually snap-call red denoms.

I am a fan of the red denoms...I think it sticks out better and makes it easier to see when playing. I'm a #2 fan. Whatever you decide, I'd love a sample set for my collection if you decide to offer them!

I'm normally a sucker for black inlays, but I agree that the white outline around the characters doesn't help. My vote is for #2 (red denom).

Another vote for red denoms. I could also imagine that black denoms with a white outline would look good.

Black denoms ainec. It emphasizes the characters more.

With this art, I prefer the ombre inlay to the black.

I prefer the red denom on the hundo, prefer the black denom on add-on/rebuy chips.
On the others, both look really, really fabulous. I understand your predicament.

I vote for A/B sides - do black denom one side, red denom the other, and deep-six the black label for this design. I think the red pops will look even better in a splashed pot if only half the denoms are red.

Plus, whenever someone wants to do a coin flip, you can use a chip.

Some tough choices.

As much as I like the color-matched denominations on the black inlays, I agree with links and CBL about the issues with the white-outlines detracting from the artwork characters (but those denominations are phenomenal).

On the gradient inlays, I typically gravitate towards red denominations with outlines to help them stand out, but again, the black outline here seems to diminish some of the 'cartoon-ish' feel of the inlay design. The non-outlined black denominations on the gradient inlays match up so much better with the rest of the artwork, imo.

If it were my set, I'd probably ask J5 for a version #2a (red denominations, but without the black outline) and a version #3a (black inlays, but artwork characters without the white outline). I'd want see if either one works better before making a final decision.

As-is, I'm choosing #1 black denominations for the reasons stated above. But those black inlays and color-matched denominations, wow....

Love all of the chip and spot colors/configs, btw. Nice work.

Hmmm...black inlay with a dark grey outline around the characters might work better, as it would soften the transition from the background to the character a bit. Might want to change my vote if that happens...

Now that links pointed out the white outline, it's bothering me now. :) I switch my vote to #2.

As is, I vote for number 1 gradient with black denoms. If it was me I would go with number 2 gradient with Red denoms 25-10,000 and number 1 gradient with black denoms for bounty, add on, and rebuy.

It would be interested to see the black inlays with red denominations. I don't care for the different color denominations, but don't dislike the black inlays. Still think I'm a #2 guy, but I think what I didn't prefer about the black inlay is the different color denoms.
