The time has come for the last of my Maxamillion chips to find a new home. I had a complete set once upon a time, but I am no longer interested in trying to reassemble the set. This is the Holy Grail of Bud Jones chips.

$400/rack shipped.

Please put a hold on these for Gear. I know he was looking for some Maxamillion chips, but not sure which denomination.

Mike

Okay, maybe it's just that I am still relatively new to this whole thing, but I find them wholly unremarkable. Is it just the rarity factor that makes them such a "get"? Sort of like the Olivia's chips?
I mean, there HAVE to be better colour and spot combos out there for this manufacturer, don't there?

Serious question as, for me, even at $100.00 per rack I would not think twice about closing the thread.

Well, these are Bud Jones "s7" which generally have a nicer feel than v2 and others, and also have fancier spot patterns, i.e. not just white or one-color on the rolling edges. Maybe seeing the $100s by themselves is a bit uninspiring, and there is probably some degree of unobtainium-ness that makes the more desirable, but I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better looking Bud Jones set than these -- at least, of those available in remotely playable quantities.

A close second (imo) for colors and spot patterns are the Wyndham Old San Juan set, but their inlay is boredom epitomized. Black text on a white background, wheeee.

Oh, and at $100/rack you wouldn't have time to ignore the thread because I would snap buy those so fast it would make your head spin. ;)

Thanks Gear . . . other than rarity, a lot of what makes one rack worth $50.00 and another worth $400.00 completely escapes me. I am going to have to look this set up in the Guide when I get home to get the whole picture.

OK, I guess it's up to individual taste.

Personally, I'd take the Southern Elegances, the Divi Carinas, and a number of BJ CIC chip sets (Silver Bird, Mullet Bay, etc.) over the Maxes. Even the Jack Niemann's and the Big Apples.

Indeed, it is.

No matter how pretty, at the end of the day, those are all just a bunch of slippery plastic chips. Y'all have a nice time fighting over them.

Couga, good luck with the sale. Dunno about Holy Grail, but they sure are pretty.

Yup. Personal taste I guess. I've owned and sold a majority of the sets you have listed without a second thought. I regret splitting my Maxamillion set to this day. To me, those sets are not in the same league as the Max's (with the exception of the Silver Birds, which I've only heard of one set existing).

That top pic was my set. I was so stoked to take that pic. I am such an idiot for breaking up that set. Biggest regret of my chipping experience.

No $1's came out in quantity. They were a very cool, white, pink purple color theme. Only 3 racks of the $5's like those pictured above ever surfaced. There were also $.10 and $.20 hotstamped chips on the suits mold.

Yes, the Max's are one of the nicest BJ's chips out there, right above the Mirage Springs for me. I've had 25's & 100's for ever but have never been able to add any $5's and certainly none of the impossible to find $500's. If I needed any $100's I'd be tempted but the last rock I bought was at $200 and that was a snap call.

I suspect a lot of it involves feeling some personal connection to the casino or its theme, and I know nothing about Maximillion. Where was it located?

Edit: Ah, found it. Cruise ship out of Brooklyn, eh? No wonder I don't feel a connection.

I have a handful of $1s but nothing close to a rack (and never seen one, either, even in pictures.)

I'll post a pic this evening.

What Gear meant, is Wifey will post a pic he requested me to take...
It only cost him a burger and a beer at one of our favorite pubs. (yay!)

Nice $1, never seen those before.

I like the $25 and $100, nice colouring on those but the $5's hurt my eyes :)

Those $1s are insane. I just thought never was any.

I have 10 of the $25s to see how they handle and love them. Would love the able afford a playable set.

Yep, they're my favorite $1, and definitely at the top of my "unobtainium" list. What's irritating is that they're ONE DOLLAR CHIPS which means there must have been hundreds of them, if not thousands, at one time. Really wish I knew where they all ended up...
