I’ve started going back to MD Live! More often now, mainly playing $1/$3. Had this hand happen today.

Hero is sitting on about $450 on a $400 buyin. Hero has been a tad aggressive, but nothing out of line. The table is full of limpers and calling stations, making marginal hands hard to play.

Villain 1 is sitting on about $350 and has limped many pots, but has been essentially been fit or fold so far.

Villain 2 had been involved in nearly every hand so far, with a VPIP at 110%. He hasn’t seen a hand preflop that’s not playable. Villain 2 started the hand with around $300.

Villain 2 is UTG and limps in for $3. Folds to hero in the Hijack. Hero has KK and makes a standard raise (for this game) to $15.

Nothing outside of normal here. Villain 1 in the Cutoff now 3-bets to $60. Button folds, and villain 2 now 4-bets to $225.

Action on Hero. What is hero’s best play here?

its either a call or a shove, can’t fold. If you call and Villain 1 also calls, you may be in big trouble. Sick spot.
For exactly this I shove. SPR is below one going into the flop if you just call. Get it in.

This is kinda rough. I'd be very worried by a serial limper that suddenly 3 bets to $60.

Not worried by villain 2 though.

If I had the right amount of history with villain 1 I'd actually lean towards a fold. I guess it depends entirely on your read of villain 1 and how much of an omc he is.

Honestly I think I made most of my $1/$3 profit by knowing when to fold. People suck at these stakes and aggression usually means one thing, especially from a limper.

Has Villain 2 had to rebuy yet that you’re aware of?

Cutoff has AA, KK, or QQ IMO. I’d add AKs and JJ and possibly AQs to Captain VPIP’s range.

This hand plays a lot easier if you flop a K, lol. I might be able to actually fold here.

What’s your read in the moment on what cutoff thinks about the big 4 bet?

a limp 4 bet shove over a cold 3-bet? if I’m ever folding kings pre, this would be the time (for the record I’m 1 for 2 all time correctly folding kings pre, so I don’t do it very often)

I’m also 1 for 2. We’re thinking the same thing here. Which is really concerning for you, lol.

To me this is either shove or fold. If you think the rockets are out there (and I think they are sitting with villain 1) you be glad you only threw 15 at this and walk away. If the rockets are not out there, then you gotta shove to get villain 1 to fold. Villain 2 doesn't have it and is pot committed, and that limp - pop from him has me thinking he has something like 10s or Jacks and wants to race. Villain 1 truthfully scares me right now. I really think he has it. Was Villain 1 a blind?

Sorry, it was late and i was tired. Villain 1 is the cutoff. Villain 2 is the limp 4-bettor.

At MD Live 1/3, I think this a fold. I don’t think I’ve seen a limp back raise to $225 without AA or KK - with AA being like 80%.

Villain 1’s range: JJ, QQ, KK, AA, or AK suited
Villain 2’s range: KK, AA, or (maybe) AK suited

I think I’d fold, preparing to be upset when QQ holds against AK suited.

Yeah, I thought for a second, and being sleep deprived, didn’t think enough. I shoved. Villain 1 tanks and can’t find a fold. Villain 2 snaps with AA. Villain 1 shows QQ. @MikesDad announces he folded KQcc, and I’m drawing to 1 out. A on the flop, and … time to add on.

@Chippy McChiperson , we got there at 3 in the afternoon. In hindsight, after getting 2 hours of sleep, then working from 5am-11 and playing poker wasn’t my best play.

Thanks for the replies. After thinking about it more, I would have been 100% ok folding, thinking who limp 4-bets in 1/3 without exactly AA.

Eh, shit happens. Rebuy.

Villain #2 played that really well.

Let’s compare the games at the casino:

Serious question - what's the age makeup of the villains? I often tell myself at casinos if a backraise comes from a player who looks 60 or older, I'm folding, especially at a limp-heavy table.

Both villains were late 50’s to early 60’s. Neither were even close to OMC
