Hate towards ppl that host raked games (1 Viewer)

This thread has gotten worse than ridiculous. People are making gross over-generalizations and expressing strong opinions on how games should run based on their own personal experience. My view is different strokes for different folks. There is no single right answer despite what some people here think.

Must be Tuesday.

[checks calendar] Oops, I guess we're running ahead of schedule.

Isn’t that what we do?

Yeah I’m the bad guy here. We could let a thread a tired old beaten to death topic just die, or we could continue the discussing it in arguably stupid ways. Pardon me for talking a little shit?

We still love ya, buddy! ;) You just got a little shit because you came across very black and white where many of us see shades of grey.

I think most agree that a host raking a few bucks to buy pizza is different than raking to pay a professional dealer, and that both are different than raking solely for profit. Whether you think any of those are acceptable is purely a matter of opinion, so in that respect you aren't right or wrong.

You have 20+ friends hanging out in your home on a regular basis?
I had 15+ multiple times when I lived back East but these arent random people, it’s friends I chat with online, golf/dinner/drink with, etc.

I don’t think there is a number where it’s an underground game all of a sudden. For me an underground game is they’re inviting over people that they don’t know well enough to consider a friend and taking a rake to cover cost plus a profit.

Nailed it

I generally don't participate in raked or credit homegames. I come with cash, I want to leave with cash and my rake pays for two things - a dealer, and security. The second is not provided so I do not wish to participate.
