My wife has a Kindle Fire HD but like her previous Kindle Fire it keeps losing sound and the only way to get it fixed is to do a factory reset (she's sent it back before for a replacement and still had problems with the new one)

Needless to say she isn't going to get an Amazon Kindle again. We've done some research and have been looking at the following:

Google Nexus 7
Samsung Galaxy Tab 4
Samsung Galaxy S Tab 8.4

Figuring with Black Friday sales she can pick up one of those for under $200. Any recommendations from the crew here?

EDIT: Looking for 16-32GB models and interested in Android OS

Sorry, should've mentioned she's looking for 16-32 GB models, but ty!

I remember seeing the iPad mini 16gb is going to be $199 at Walmart on Black Friday, can probably order online

I am an apple users myself but, the which one is best comes down to what the tablet will be used for? Reading, games, web stuff, pictures, music?? This will lead you in the right direction. If sound makes a difference find one that has the best sound system and go for it. From what my tech geeks at work state that any of the samsung's are good. They like them all and they are Android lovers. Yes, we have a few heated discussions about it.

Also they all have different screen sizes so that will play into your decision.

I've got three Nexus 7s floating around my house (two of the 2012 model and one 2013), and they're solid tablets. I see refurbs all the time in the $120-130 neighborhood.

Well, she likes to read books, she likes to use HBOGo on her tablet, she likes to browse the web, she likes to play some Hello Kitty game. Ideally whatever she gets will have HDMI output so we can connect to the tv and stream from G2G or HBOGo (but not a deal breaker)

She also has about $160-170 in Amazon credits/gift cards so she's going to be purchasing on that site. Just looking for what you guys use and like :)

All 3 solid choices so if looking for watching TV I would go with the bigger screen size.

Also looks like amazon prime customers might be getting more of a break. Just glancing through the page.

agreed. i have a preference for apple, but if i were going android and was looking at that price point, it would be a nexus 7 (2013) for sure. the widescreen is great for streaming video.

new for $199 at amazon and refurbished for $160 at ebay. and here's a slimport HDMI out adapter for $16 at amazon.

Shouldn't you have said all that (plus the android thing, and the capacity) in the OP?

Wife wound up snagging the Asus MeMO Pad FHD 10 ME302C-A1-BL 10.1 Inch 16GB Tablet for $199 on sale @ Amazon (80 bucks off) plus picked up a 32GB SD card to expand the memory.

She's psyched to be going from a 7-inch screen to 10 inches.

A bit late to the party but I have been very happy with my Samsung Tab 3 8". The 7" and 10" tab 3's were underpowered but from what i have read they have come up to spec on the Tab 4.

Its amazing how much difference the 8" makes over the 7" and with the physical buttons instead of having them on screen it frees up even more screen space.

Good luck with your purchase!

Honestly, you should really consider building one yourself. The cost may be a little more, but it will be better than anything you can buy in the sub $200 category.

OOOOHHHHHHHHH...you said tableT ;)
