Hello, everyone. You can call me J. Juice is an old nickname, but a good forum name. ;)

I've lurked on PCF for years, but I've just joined as a member. I started playing poker seriously almost two decades ago, shortly after the start of the boom. I probably haven't played more than 3-4 times in the past 5 years though, due to the pandemic and young kids.

But I am looking forward to getting some friends, colleagues, and poker aficionados I know together to start playing semi-regularly in the coming months. So I figured it was time to dig back in to the community. And get some advice.

I would like to get a custom set of poker chips for our games, and I've been trying to find a good place to get them. I'd love to get some CPCs, and I've put some designs together that I like (I probably want to fiddle with 1-2 chip designs still). Their feel and weight are what set them above for me. But the CPCs will cost me significantly more than I was initially planning to spend.

I played around with Chiplab's site, and I've played around with some of their samples. I don't mind the feel of their "clay" chips, but they are heavier than I prefer. I'm also not the biggest fan of their green chip color, and their edge spot combos for red and green chips aren't my favorite either. But the feel is ok, I like the flat edges, and the price is attractive.

I'm going to poke around some more and see what makers/sites members have been recommending, but if you want to share any recs directly, I am wide open to suggestions.

Thanks for having me, and nice to start meeting you all.

Damn -- that "DMV" thread bugs me. Every time I see it, I wonder what the Department of Motor Vehicles has to do with chips.

In my 30+ years of living and working in MD, VA, and DC, it was always referred to as "the DC area".

Ah well, welcome anyway!

Hi,

Welcome to PCF

It prob be better to just go for a CPC set rather than spending on the "Clay" from Chiplab if you had the budget
I know that's true. But I think the CPC's may be out of my price range right now. I'm checking options (for CPC chips) now to see where I might be able to save a bit on the CPC, but I want to explore other options (apart from CPC) too.

Hello, and welcome! Another DC guy here (Arlington actually). Incredible community here, and everyone is really patient and willing to share advice.

Soooo many different options/roads to go down looking at what you are wanting to do. I am an amateur graphic designer and have been playing around with designing some labels/inlays/etc. If you want some help or just want to give me a reason to keep learning and experimenting, let me know! Happy to do what I can!

Would love to meet up one of these days and play some cards!

Good luck and have fun!

Is this still an active thread? I can't seem to view it, and I am not sure if that's because it's deleted, or if it's behind an activity wall I still need to eclipse.
I think you need more posts to be able to see it..

No falling asleep on your posting obligations!

I appreciate the confirmation. I have obviously been on a hiatus, and the rules must have changed in the last 1.5 years. I used to be able to view it.
I'll do what I can, without spamming anything. ;)
