Laurel Crown Plaques (1 Viewer)

looks like your average ceramic plaque.
nothing fancy about it except the name "laurel" and the picture of a laurel.

There certainly don't seem that special but there are always the intangibles. Or actually the tangibles since feel with these things are pretty important. I just like that the design doesn't seem terrible for a generic. Then again I've not seen them in the flesh so maybe they aren't as "nice" as they seem. I was just in the market for a handful of plaques to round out a tournament set and in the absence reasonably priced Matsui in the quantity I need, was looking at these.

Cheaper per plaque for the 82mm, and you can go bigger if you want to. I haven't seen the plaques in person, but the 60mm Dealer Buttons from OWPS are the best in the business by reputation and from my experience. Plus, Sal has been wonderful to work with on the design for the Par-A-Dice group buy. He completely reworked the concept I had put together in GIMP using illustrator and the results look fantastic. Really the best choice for something like this. He'll help you find a great design, generic or not, and the look and feel won't be beat elsewhere.

Wow it's weird to be here. Been out of the loop for a while so didn't realize that this site was going on (though I still am on CT). In any case I posted over there but didn't get any response so thought I'd ask here. Does anyone have any familiarity with these:

K.

The Laurel Crowns are standard 40g credit card sized plaques. You can also find them on eBay for the same BIN price for five plaques with free shipping (five available denominations, plus matching 39mm chips, too).

I've always liked using the "Formal" plaques sold by HoldemPokerChips.com ($5.99 each) as high denominations for chip sets that need them. I have a set that has been used with several different chip sets over the years.

But I agree with a-toast -- it's pretty hard to beat the ultra-cool rounded-corner custom plaques sold by OWPS. Four sizes, great pricing, outstanding service, and they are simply crap-tons nicer than the thinner standard plaques in terms of quality, looks, and feel. Minimum order is 10 plaques (five per design), but well worth it, imo -- and you can match them exactly to your set if desired. You could probably split an order with somebody else here on PCF if you really only want five of a single design.

OWPS also sells a couple of different 'generic' cc-sized plaques, too. I have a set of the dropa disc plaques, and they are very nice and reasonably-priced at $4.99 each.

Double check with Sal on whether you need to do 10 plaques. Still, 10 seems like about the minimum for a useful number of plaques to me. Depends on the set I guess.
