So I just picked up this table from a gentlemen in the Pittsburgh area.
He looked like he was upset the old lady was making him sell. I got it for $100. Brand new I see these for $1k

Now by no means is it in new condition. It’s got some scuffs and is a little dirty. For $100 you can’t complain at all.

I have a carpet cleaner with an upholstery attachment. Would it be smart or dumb to use the attachment to try and clean the speedcloth

Ready to be praised, roasted or given some pointers on what I should do to clean it up/fix the little dings.

thanks all!

You definitely need to buy some cupholders to put in the cupholder holes.

I have them they are just not in the holes yet. They are stainless and also need cleaned. I just have the top on the floor for the time being.

I had to show my old lady the FB post cause she didn’t believe me about the price.

Includes the base?
The base is worth a pretty penny there I’d think
Yup, but the base is in rough shape. It somehow got rust on it. I might have a new base made.

Not sure how I can clean that off

I was assuming folding legs, but with the base, it’s an even better deal. So what if it is beat up some, if it is solid and keeps the table from sliding around as players belly into it I’d keep it.

Definitely new speed cloth, probably new, thicker foam in the center and you might be able to rechrome the pedestal base, if it indeed chrome. An auto body and/ or upholstery shop could help on that front. That’s a mega monster steal. The Godzilla of FB marketplace purchases.

^^ all of this (new felt, new foam padding, keep and refinish the base). And if it were mine, I'd also fit in a center section and recover the entire surface, ditching the racetrack. Can still use the in-table cupholders if desired (I wouldn't).

I hear all of you. But I think that I am going to try the lazy route first and do the wet vac to try and clean the speedcloth. Can’t get any worse that was it is.

if I do go the route you guys are suggesting (the proper way) I will probably be replacing everything as there is no way to get the base apart with out removing everything. Unless I am missing something. Check out the pictures below.

So I got out the power scrub vacuum tonight. Attached the hand held spin brush upholstery attachment and went to town on the speed cloth. First picture is the before next two are the after. Is it perfect? No. I would give it a 7.5-8/10. 10 being brand new speed cloth. The edges are the issue as I can only get so close. Let me know what you think.

Look pretty nice to me. I would use some polishing compound on the base and see how that works on the rust. If it’s surface rust you may be able to buff it to a presentable finish as you have on the speed cloth. Nice job

Racetracks look nice but functionally I can't stand them. Having a full felt surface is preferable for shuffling chips and just general "feel" when you're playing. I agree with @BGinGA to ditch the racetrack and cover it all up with a full felt surface.

tbh I am not a racetrack fan either but I do like the cup holders given the goons I play with. At least one drink goes down a game.
