Well I was just posting about finally completing my El Cortez rack and looked up and realized I just hit 10,000 posts. I figured I would use my 10,001 post to do a giveaway.

There will be a giveaway for every 1,000 post.

First let me tell everyone this has been heck of a ride getting to 10,000 posts. I remember early on I was like always trying to get more posts without post padding. I lol at that every time I though about how long I would stay on to post.

Through the years I have met many great people on here. There are some I do not see often in person but I know I can call them friends. Through the years I have seen the ups and downs both personally and site wise but I think we have all persevered through these rough times. We have a community of chip collecting nuts!!!

So now for the give away. I will be doing 10 random drawings Next Sunday. I will take entries through 11:59 pm Saturday July 24th. Drawing on Sunday July 25th time TBD

1. Post that you are "IN"
2. Post a short story of why you love collecting chips this qualifies you.
3. or you can post a story of how someone rose to the top of your friends list by either helping you personally or helped you with your collection. This qualifies you and them. People that are qualified by someone will receive one entry for being in someones story and they can also qualify themselves with their own story. Yes each member can have a maximum of two entries.
4. All PCF members are eligible
5. Winners can only win one item
6. I cover the shipping

the items are....

In please thank you.

I got a fever…. And the only prescription, is more poker chips

These clay disks have really gotten a hold of me. I started out with the standard crappy dice chips and slowly I ordered samples and other samples. That led me to the 13 gram (“official casino weight” chips :wtf:) haha. And inevitably after enough googling I ended up here with the rest of you degens. I’ve been hooked ever since.

The chips are what brought me here but it’s the community and friendships that have kept me.

In, please!

I suspect my story of how I got started almost a year ago is similar to others. I scoured the internet looking to add on to my Classics set that I had put together more than a decade ago. I found PCF, completed (and then sold) my Classics, realized my "rare" set was anything but and my wallet has never recovered.

I love the colors, the feel, the history and the game.

Thanks for this!

OK, I'm IN.

I love collecting chips because it's a hobby where I can actually USE the item that is part of the hobby. I love board games, guns, and poker chips. And I get to use all three of those. Sometimes at the same time. Ha! (not really) I have had coins and sports cards in the past. They just sit there. Yawn.

Which doesn't explain why I'm a singles junkie, but it's only for about 400 chips, so
ill allow it.gif

Mister @leo822 has helped me with my singles journey, and I have helped him. He's a solid character to have in your corner, even though if he could outbid me on a chip we both wanted, I'm sure he would! :D There's plenty of bourbon people and cards mold people I could have listed here as well, but he came to mind first, so he gets the entry.

In please

I started with dice Chips and I thought those were good

Then some kings casino slugged chips and I thought those were good

then some milanos and I thought those were good.

Now I’m just a mess and can’t stop buying Paulsons. But at least I have a place to share it with!

In please!

My journey in chipping is likely similar to many of yours. Got into poker, realized that there was a whole world of chipping to be had, and then got in deep with all of you. Became extremely obsessed, bought 10 sets in a couple of months, and am now in the process of fine tuning what I like. I love the design, I love the feel, and I love the collecting aspect.

Thanks for doing this giveaway!

In! I love collecting chips because it reminds me of the casino experience. Sharp edges, weight, and design theme help bring out the feeling of the casino and I get to share them with friends. Hopefully I can finish my GPI Monaco's with plaques or a few more chips. Then it evolved into getting unique chips that appeal to my eyes and hands.

In!

Chipping started for me when I decided to build a craps table as a way to save money on gambling and bring friends over for more in person interactions. It's been a fabulous journey and I've made a lot of new friends through poker, craps, and chipping.

In please and thank you.

I got brought into pcf when responding to an eBay seller on some Empress Joliet $25s and Stardust Poker Mansion $1s several years ago. She convinced me it would be good to join pcf, if I was into this chip collecting thing and I've been hooked ever since, sometimes selling and rebuying the same chips for more, I think that qualifies me as a chip addict! Thanks alot Mel, @liftapint

LoL...

In! Great giveaway and congrats on the 10k posts!

I fell in love with poker and it was only a matter of time before i fell in love with the artifacts of the game including chips. PCF is "My people" and I love that this a group of people who love this game and hosting friends the same way i do.

In please I found this place when I started looking for a upgrade to the old dice chips and I really had no idea. My plan was to get a nice set of ceramic chips and that plan got blown out of the water. I’m close to my first complete cash set with a tournament set next on the list and a cards mold set too. This place is just awesome and members that have helped or even just written something great to read @Jeevansluck @horseshoez @Pinkdan @Ben8257 @FordPickup92 @Aiairon @judgeanjury @ImCrossland and there’s so many more. Congratulations on your 10,000th post. Great giveaway. Kinda blew it but will make up for it here @studioapc for releasing an amazing set to me (pron to follow once it’s across the boarder)

IN. I love collecting poker chips to put them into play with my friends. Most have no appreciation or knowledge of poker chips but it is awesome to use real casino chips in a home game.

Congratulations David!

In please, would like to mention @Ben8257 for being someone to descend upon this journey together with and achieving chipping goals and meet up goals as a team and @Josh Kifer for always being a supportive friend no matter the situation, and also helping us achieve a few chipping goals along the way

In. I joined shortly before the world went to shit. I really didn't know a damn thing about chips, but there was so much here to learn. I remember this becoming my happy place as the world locked down. Seeing those little discs arrive in the mail. Some clean, some so dirty I was scared to touch them. They were little pieces of history...

In, thanks.

I came here trying to find a local home game (or two). Found that, and also met some great people, bought my own custom Chanman table, and now own a two table Paulson Horseshoe Cleveland cash game set (.05/.10 through 2/5) and a three table Royal 43mm tournament set (T10k through T1M).

If I had way more disposable income, I would be buying way more chips, but for now I'm waiting to get my current sets into play before buying MOAR CHIPS.

In!

I enjoy collecting poker chips in part because I'm a fan of functional art. But I think the real reason is that it keeps me in touch with this community. I spend a ton of time chatting on the site and attending meetups, and all I have to do is spend a couple grand on a set of chips once in a while. Such a bargain!

IN

In college (mid 90s) we played with change, nickel dime quarter games. We tried using various chips, first interlocking bicycles, and then some bakelite Anchor brand chips. Then one player got his grandfathers chips, some US Playing Card Co. monograms. These had square edges and were thicker/heftier than the Anchors. We called them the "Abe Plows" because, well, that was his name. They came in a beautiful wooden case with 4 removable chip holders. It was so nice. We would all self-bank, that is, put $5 in the box and grab our own chips. It was never a problem. Eventually we moved stakes to $10.

Fast forward a couple years and we all graduate and Jeff, who's chips we use, is moving away with the chips. It's been so nice to play with these nice chips I can't imagine going back to something worse. It's about this time I start wondering what a real chip is. Not the ones I've seen at retail, not the ones from antique stores, but the ones used by real casinos. Through eBay research (ie search poker chips, sort by highest price) I learn about Paulson and I start looking for those. Nevada Jacks and eBay were the only sources of sets, but Casinocom.com had starbursts availalble. I finally convince myself its worth paying the high prices for a Paulson set and bid on a set of Palais de Congres on eBay. I lose. At this time, bidders were identifiable, and the seller send me a message "I have these for cheaper on my site". I headed over to NevadaJacks.net and made the purchase.

After getting and loving the chips, I found that I loved looking for chips as much as I liked having them, and the eBay searches continued. Nevada Jacks released more sets, like the Ambassador Plazas, I found some through thechipboard.com (Atlantic Maritime) and bought and sold through eBay. Not really hoarding anything, just building more and more sets and selling the extras. Bought some Cali Bell Clubs on craigslist to a guy that was upgrading to Plaza house molds. Those were too worn for me so off to eBay they went. Same with most of the Atlantic Maritimes.

I joined Chiptalk and became friends with Mizuchaud, he and I shared in chip deals from The Outpost and Caesars Tahoe. I don't think he ever made it here, I miss that guy. I got in debt and was forced to come up with $3000 on short notice. The only thing I could do was sell my Palais de Congres chips. It ripped my heart out. The end of Chiptalk was rocky, and I didn't like some of the rhetoric. I came over to PCF but didn't post much and the hobbys mindshare dwindled. For about 5 years I didn't search for chips, post about chips, or otherwise participate in the community. When I would get an email about a new sale from The Chip Room, I would look briefly and forget about them.

Occasionally I would get PM notifications in my email, and right before the pandemic started I got an offer to buy some chips from @steam . I thought it was a good offer, but didn't really care to sell. Then when Covid lockdowns started I wondered what might happen to the economy and maybe I should "cash in" these chips. A month after his PM, I responded agreeing to the deal. We chatted back and forth quite a bit, it was more than simply transactional. We liked a lot of the same chips, but not exactly. Little did I know that this was igniting the fire again.
kings (2).jpg

Suddenly I had some cash in my PayPal account and was curious about what chips were available. Went back to eBay and fired up some of my saved searches. Wound up finding @The Chip Exchange's listings and purchasing several racks of BJ Inter-Continentals. After a short discussion, that deal was cancelled and I made the purchases here from his (famous?) President's Day Sale thread. I spent all that paypal money and then some. And, like before, kept on looking for chips. Found some on Facebook, eBay, and then the HSI chips arrived in barrels. Decided to get a full set and am very satisfied with that purchase. All throughout, I'm telling @steam about what I'm finding, buying, trying not to buy, and wishing I could buy. We rack up pages and pages of messages and it's truly wonderful to share a hobby with a friend. I've always been better 1-on-1 than with groups, and this is true on forums too. I can honestly say that not only would I not be back in the hobby were it not for @steam, but that I wouldn't enjoy it nearly as much.

Ended up writing much more than intended :bag: There were many more chips than mentioned here as this is more about the journey than the chips.

TL : DR Always more chips, always more fun with friends

In, please.

I love collecting things! My Dad started me with baseball cards and then my friends got me into comic books and video games. Started playing holdem and the Paulson name hit me hard. So, this adventure with poker chips has been going strong for many years.

Cheers!

I'm debating on sharing this story because of the inevitable question that it's going to lead to, but here it goes anyway.

I nominate @horseshoez . Zaki has been a good chipping friend of mine for a good part of my time in this hobby. Always fun to shoot the shit with and he's helped me out on a few projects over the course of the past couple of years. Without sharing too much, I'll only say that I was able to acquire a grail set of chips as a result of his direct intervention of which I could not acquire on my own accord.

I cold PM'ed those that I thought or that I knew had what I was after, with no luck. We got to talking one day and we found that we're actually looking for the same chips, but insisted that he helped find me a set before he could add onto his own. Initially the usual suspects did not pan out, but, again, without being too specific, he went out and got some really solid trade bait on his own dime that would try and help me to land the chips. He did not accept payment from me for said trade bait unless it led to me acquiring what I was after.

Long story short, I was able to work out the three way trade in which I got what I was after, Zaki got the cash, and the third party got the trade bait. This is something I'm eternally grateful for, and I'm very happy to see that we were both able to get what we were after. Cheers my friend.

IN.
Came here to complete the Empress set I bought way back when. Was just looking for a rack or two. Somehow that evolved into a birdcage+ and a constant hunt for hard to find Empress pieces. That's what brought me here. What keeps me here is the community. Even though I'm not an active collector (I have a small singles collection), I love the conversations and affection for these chips and the stories behind, around and involving them. It's one of the few sites I check nearly every day. Someday I'll break down and start building another set. But for now, I'm content to just hang out and swap stories with everyone!

Congrats on 10k :)

For one... congratulations David!! That is a huge achievement brother!! Hapoy to help on that Elcortez journey of yours!

So freaking many people have helped me on my chipping journey, it is almost impossible to only pick one!

I'm going to go with @RivieraDanny !! When he made his big score I reach out with a hope and a prayer that he would help me finish my rack of Pick Hobson fracs. He didn't have to.. could have told me to go screw myself or whatever else! Instead on Easter this year I am crying inthe Baltimore zoo with family as Danny responds "sure man.. when I get home and get everything sorted out, I would live to help you complete that rack!"

Furthermore... when price came up I was honest, saying I have been paying around $18 per chip.. he could have asked more and I probably would have paid it. Not going to disclose that final number but it was far less than that! Again helping a friend and not focusing on max profit!!

When we finally got to meet Danny in Vegas with you David, I already had a feeling we were going to get along. Weird coincidence that it was the three of us battling it out there in the end at "the meet in ththe suite" but either way was awesome to finally meet and play with both of you!!

Danny, David you are both our friends and I look forward to our next meet up together!!

Felliw Chipper Ben

In. I like hosting poker games. To have a quality game, you need quality chips naturally. Started with several 500 chip sets of Desert Sands. Joined the blue wall looking for $5k chips and never left.
