Greetings all, new member here that recently got back into poker after about a 5 1/2 yr hiatus. So my love for poker chips and chip sets has been re-kindled. Back when I played and started to build my first set I never thought to join a forum. I sold my old playing set yrs ago and now that I'm looking to purchase/build a new set I figured I might as well join the community!

Well I technically do currently have a 400 pc set that I purchased a long time ago with the intent to use it for special occasions, but I never had it in me to use them and still don't because I think they are just too beautiful to mess up lol. Plus it's always fun making new sets!

Welcome to the madness!
We have a rule here, if you mention your chips, you have to show them. :ROFLMAO:

Seriously, we love chip photos...
Haha no problem! I agree, I can look through chip photos all day!

Great chips! They look like Chipcos... what’s the history on these?
The rolling edges are great.

Welcome! Always good to see another Texan in the forum.

What are you looking for in a new set of chips?

Greetings fellow Texan!

For now just a usable and functioning set. $250-$350 price range. I will look to piece together a high quality set in time (hopefully).

So currently looking at stock ABS or ceramic chips. Leaning towards ceramic as that's what they use at the casino near by (Native American Reservation about 1hr away). Came on here to see if there were any used sets being sold as I don't really care to purchase brand new as I'm really just looking for functionality and value/per chip. Currently both games that I will be playing at use dice chips (a shame I know), so anything is better than that. One is a $1-$2 and the other is $.50-$1 both NL. Even then, I don't know if one game would care to use the set I purchase (older gentleman mainly and may not care to change current setup). The other is all friends so will definitely get used there. And just nice having a "decent" set to have available for any occasion.

The outlaw ABS chips and scroll ceramic were the front runners. Again I'm going for value and functionality. However, I did find a used 830 pc set of ceramics on here that have no denominations for $250 that I think will be perfect for what I'm looking for. So I'm thinking of going with that set over the other two. I don't mind the no denominations as it actually allows great flexibility depending on the stakes and game.

I appreciate all perspectives and opinions so feel free to chime in or direct me to anyone else looking to sell an old used set around that price range.

Thanks for the greeting and any input you may have!

I wish I could tell you the history on these. But I came across them years ago on eBay along with the other presidents and denominations we have in US currency. They weren't being sold as a set. Wish I had bought the other ones  Have googled online but came up empty except for someone selling a few singles as golf ball markers. Can't find any info on them. Then I came across a photo on here of someone who showed their whole collection and he actually had one of each denom. I've asked if he knows anything about them, but am currently still waiting for a reply.

I love the rolling edges as well! Which is why I don't have it in me to use them and mess them up :sneaky::ROFL: :ROFLMAO: As far a I know, they've never been used.

Did you see these? May be too small a set or too small denominations, but might be able to add on some higher denoms.

Also, do check into the "Cards mold" custom ceramics. There are a bunch of different threads on here and some group buys about to start up. Cool customs or use existing artwork for some neat ceramic chips at under 40 cents a piece. Just can't be a in a big hurry as these come from China and will take 3-4 months or more to receive from order date of the GB. Here is my custom designed Texas Flood tournament set.

Ohhhh those are cleannnn. And they're ceramics?! With a an impression all the way around? Damn those are sweet! Also that 500 pc set for 150 is a nice buy as well. Definitely considering that one. I'm gonna see if the bigger game I play at tomorrow would even want to use nicer chips. And if not, I may just go with that smaller set. Great find and thank you for directing me towards it.

Love these! These were my first love and what got me into chipping. I had a 900 chip set of all denominations. Did you know that the rolling edges form to make an american flag if you stack one of each denomination?

The *only* issue I had with them, and ultimately the reason I ended up selling them, is they're not practical for a game. The edges are terribly similar and result in dirty stacks.
