So, the CCA convention left me feeling a little unsatisfied, and poker was good to me overall during the trip, and I’d love to transfer some of that run-good value to someone else, and satiate my desire for chips at the same time.

This is an open offer of up to $25,000 cash for an excellent / minty condition THC or TRK set that either adds on to a set I already have, or is a brand new set to me. Looking for something that’s rarer, in great condition, with an excellent breakdown.

In terms of sets I already own through PCF, willing to add to my Binion’s WSOP, Lakeshores, Nevada Lodge / Club, Mapes, ACFs, etc. In terms of new, I’m totally open to anything you may have to offer, as long as it’s in excellent condition, worth the money I’m offering, and is leaded TRK or THC.

Feel free to PM with options. I know “open” ads like these don’t tend to get much going, but I have a hankering, and felt like posting this.

:p :p

Aria rental set perhaps?
One of my biggest disappointments in chipping was the first time I handled an Aria chip. They have cool colors and they come from a cool place, but based on WW's tastes in chips, he'd probably rather toss them in the chipper. They are not impressive feeling chips.

This +500000000

But what don't you have? Or is this like...I don't know what I don't have and so I'm casting a 20,000 foot net?

Just curious… you have been a member here for just coming upon a year but you have an unparalleled breadth of knowledge and exposure at this point. Do you feel the urge to create (via CPC or Paulson direct-buy etc) yet? Or does the passion still lie entirely in collecting?

I am not caught up with your personal thread. Sorry if you talk about that in there.

There’s got to be at least a few states where opening a casino/cardroom isn’t that prohibitive…….

I don’t think anyone has ever successfully accused WW of failing to have sufficient will and drive to achieve what he wants to achieve. But my curiosity is more about the passion to employ the knowledge gained to create something vs collecting. Everyone had their own unique journey. I just found myself taking a turn at some point.

I really don’t know US law/rules surrounding gaming and don’t really have any interest in digging. More of a probing question than an accusation. I know in Canada it’s practically impossible.

Based on the number of card rooms in CA it can't be that difficult, or at least wasn't in the past.

I can only speak for myself, but it's a little insulting if you're saying, okay, if you're such a chipping expert, make some good chips.
Some of us are artistic creative types and some of us aren't - that's just reality. And for my money, knowing your limitations is invaluable.
But more importantly, depending on your tastes, the entire suggestion could be bullshit. Because there's no amount of money, knowledge, or artistic creativity that can get CPC or GPI/Paulson to make leaded, shaped textured inlay chips.
So challenging me to create a new set of chips is like challenging me to make a nice oil painting, or create a recipe using cilantro, or create some jazz music - its nothing I have any interest in.

Hopefully he'll speak for himself - I thought that was exactly what he was saying. But I'm often wrong.
I think he was saying that many chippers follow similar paths. One of those common paths is eventually finding and appreciating customs. I used to never even look twice any time a cpc chip was posted and now I can’t get enough for example. Customs aren’t the only path, but it is a common end point for many.

Krish has an insane collection obviously. Customs are something completely different than this and I read it as Evan asking if Windwalker had considered customs as a fun new option to explore at this point.

I’ve found inspiration by surfing through rubescasinochips.com While you can’t purchase sets, the collection of chips there is incredible and there’ve been a number of chips I’ve seen on there which made me want to pursue a full set.

Just a thought. While purchasing an entire set in one swoop is great, pursuing a seemingly nonexistent fantasy set is a fun and exciting challenge.

It’s a fair question, Evan.

Having had a chance to play with a few CPC custom sets, the “feel” simply doesn’t do it for me. There are some incredible sets out there — I love @slisk250 ’s Rosie’s Bayou and @Hornet ’s science set, and seeing them has definitely piqued my interest in a custom set, but I will not (at least for now) be pursuing the CPC route.

The pandemic slowed down my customs process a bit, but I’m hoping to reveal something really fun in the months to come, most likely by mid to late next year.
