After much research I have decided the Terribles set is a must have for my home game. I am now on the hunt for Terribles chips in either a set to get started or happy to start grabbing barrels and racks when they are available. I am starting from scratch so all denominations are needed. Chips in mint condition preferred. I am super excited to get this project started! If anybody wants to help a chip noob out please feel free to PM or post in this thread.

Thanks,
Blue Merle

Great choice!

Which version of the Terrible's set(s) are you looking for? There are several (St. Jo's / La Grange), each one with a primary and secondary chip set. See the photo below for a sample of several of their sets.

That's a really good question and one that is hard to answer because I like them all! I guess I am open to any options that come my way. Personally I would like to hunt down all of them so I am not to picky out of the gate!

Would encourage you to start by focusing on one, as they are not the easiest sets to pull together (although definitely possible!). Think about which row you like the most (left to right) and then focus in on that. Sets all vary tremendously in price. For example the $1 chip on the upper left (Lagrange secondary set), can run you as much as $10 per chip (if you can believe that) while the $1 chip on the bottom left can be found for as little as $1.50/1.75 per chip.

Copy that. Thanks for the information. I had no idea they would vary that much in cost. I would say the St. Joseph primary or secondary is right up my ally. But with that being said I would entertain any of the sets. They are just such beautiful chips!

Just to add a bit to what @Senzrock wrote, some of the above chips cannot be found mint. For exemple, Mark Twain $1s are casino used only. Very, very few racks of St Jo's Primary $5s are mint, most are casino used.

Primary inlays are white and Secondary inlays are cream, as you can see in the picture.

Thanks for the info Chaos. This has been so much fun researching this set and gathering all this information.
