My wife has just informed me that when I "DIE", she is going to have me Cremated and send my Ashes to Joe at Palm Imports

She is going to have him mix the ashes with what ever he needs to and make her a Set of Poker Chips.

KEEP YOUR EYE'S OPEN JOE !!!!!!

OH , SHE SAYS FOR THE RIGHT PRICE, SHE WILL SELL THEM !!!!!!!!!

IS SHE TRYING TO TELL ME SOMETHING ????????

For some reason I just had the mental image of my ashes being pressed into commemorative chips and everyone here critiquing them.

"Dull edgespots and colors for a commemorative chip. And the HHR has been so overused by this guy. Still nice J5 inlay and nostalgia for a departed PCFer. Two and a half stars."

I can see myself as more of a DG color when I come out
I was wondering about that. If I died (being single and such), where would my chips go? I dont have a will... my parents would probably sell them on the local listings for about 20 bucks a set not knowing!

I hereby declare if I kick the bucket, anyone feel free to contact mr and mrs spike and let them know the real deal...

good one Russ, I should get to know your wife, make the first move on your chips ;)

Not sure what my wife would do with all of my chips....

maybe Joe can build a coffin out of my 50,000 plus chips

I'm going to leave an item where the worth of my poker supplies is explained to my wife before the reading of the will.

If she knew how much I had spent now it might expedite said reading of the will

so . . . $30.00?

I too have this fear that when I die my wife will sell my chips dirt cheap at a garage sale or donate them to the local thrift store. But I hate to tell her how much I've spent on them at this point in my life as I hope to live a few years longer. I should probably get around to putting an attachment to my will with the value of all the chips. Otherwise I could see her giving away all my Binion Horsheshoes for $29.99 since that's the cost of official casino weight chips at Walmart.

And yours don't even weigh 13.5 grams....

That's not all it would expedite. That said, I bet that the event prior to your "final journey" would become a much longer, slower, and more painful process. <shudder!>

I have a note near where my chips are with instruction to get a hold of a few trusted PCF-ers in the event of the unthinkable. I also have similar notes for my telescope gear (as expensive as chips are, if not more) as well as my animation art (most of that goes to my nephews no matter what).

It's kind of grim to think about, but it's important considering what is tied up financially in all of those endeavors.

Worst possible scenario, you put the value of your chips in your will, or what you paid for them, and then the courts see that or the IRS and boom, your heirs pay 55% of the value to the government in estate taxes. Talk about a bad beat.

LOL, I'd consider having to worry about estate taxes as a windfall, not a bad beat.

I'm not really sure what Joe, will make them with...... You'll just have to wait and see if they can be played with... I'm sure Joe will make them playable...

This is really becoming somewhat a serious post....

I posted it in total laughter from my wife's response to me always messing with chips... Retired, ya have a lot of time, and when the wife is also retired she has a lot of time to observe you.....

Lucky for me that my wife and I are friends with Racer96, Gear, and T_Chan.
So she will get some good prices on the chips (Racer96 and Gear), and the table can be appraised by T_Chan. Unless....these 3 do what all good friends do when a friend dies....undercut him and take him for all he's got! :D J/K!!

Well, it does happen . . . wife's family back home, on her Mother's side, practically had another funeral caused by a traffic pile up when some "mourners" were in too much of a hurry to get back to the deceased's abode to pillage it.

My gear, such as it is, will all be taken care of in codicils to my Will. I think the idea of having ones ashes used in some commemorative chips would be interesting, though . . .

Well... gee, I think we're missing the obvious here... if you're friends with Racer Mike, and your wife has seen the number of chips HE has, I'm guessing she probably thinks your own collection is minuscule in comparison! You're probably in no danger at all of your wife offing you so she can sell the chips. Everyone with a wife needs a friend like Racer Mike! :)

I'm counting on Couga, who is 20 years or so younger than me, to take the stash, sell it, keep 20-25%, give the rest back to my family -- all off the record so no taxes. If I'm dead enough, I won't hear the wife yelling both in joy at the money and realization of how much has actually been spent on chips. I suppose if she were to go first and a friend could sell all her clothes, shoes & jewelry for even 50% I'd probably be jumping for joy as well. Fat chance of that happening though eh? :)

With Mrs. Pug gone now, I have no idea what to do when I drop dead. I do have a letter near my chips, that best way to get rid of them, is to contact someone at CT (have to add PCF into the letter).

What a hilarious thought. Now that I think of it I wonder if CPC would use my bone chips (after my wife sends me through a woodchipper for expensive chip deliveries) rather than the brass flakes? To further that notion...I wonder if it is something similar to this that lead to the observations of itchy hands from China Clays...??? :p

My sister is the only family member who has any clue about what my chips are worth, and she will undoubtedly seek the assistance of one or two trusted friends in the disposition of my chips. To borrow from Mrs. BGinGA, "Services at 1:00, auction at 3:00."

If I'm dead enough . . .

Who knew there were degrees of deadness? ;)
