Hello, all! I’ve been lurking on here quite a bit lately (I was turned onto this site through a video on YouTube), so I figured I’d make an account and jump in!

I live just outside of Dayton, OH, and I’ve been playing poker for about 10-11 years. However, I’d stopped playing for the last year or so after the pandemic hit. I play NLHE almost exclusively, and I really enjoy playing tournaments. I’ve just started back up, and I’ve already seen some absolutely beautiful poker chips here! I’d like to get my hands on a stack of those beautiful Horseshoe $1 chips from Indiana I’ve seen floating around just to get a feel for what shuffling new Paulson chips is like!

That’s pretty much it! I look forward to talking with you all!

Welcome! We have a nice anual game in Columbus that is hosted by @toynoob , last year it was in October and I hear possibly late September this year. Meet ups are excellent opportunities to check out lots of chips without having to pay for them. This is part of what we brought last year.

And it's not just about poker, it's about playing the game with others that share your interests. Some meet ups are nothing but chippers, this one was kind if mixed so not a ton of chip-chat but I say keep an eye out for local net ups and try to attend if possible. Great way to start friendships within the hobby and again not have to pay a fortune to check out a bunch of different chips!

Best of luck on your chipping journey! If you ever have any questions feel free to reach out Via PM anytime!

Some people seem nervous but really it's better than casino play IMO. @FordPickup92 (my spouse) and I have really just got into traveling poker. But honestly it really is a great time and everyone is friendly and helpful, especially with learning new games. I mean helpful while taking your money but still!

We live in Maryland but we drove to Florida for a meet up in Feburary, we are playing at a big meet up in VA in just a few weeks. A couple weeks later playing in North NJ, 2 weeks later playing a private meet up in Vegas, later this year Ohio again and also New Mexico for the first time... going to be fun as I think we are all ready to get back to normal!

Hope to meet you at a game sometime in the future, also reach out to local PCF members and see if you can get a seat in their games, another way to meet people but also again check out some quality chips!

From a meet up last year in PA @MegaTon44 game!

Our local game hosted by the great @krafticus ! The best game in town IMO, we average 10 - 11 chippers in this game

This looks like a really good time! I would certainly be down to meet up with some people here and play some poker! I’m starting to wonder if there is any sort of market for poker tables here in Ohio. I used to build them for a friend who ran a pub league, and would love to do it again!

I'm not currently in a position to purchase a table but when I am, I'll definitely keep you in mind. You have any pics of the tables you've built?

I was only able to find this one, which is a shame because I’ve built nicer tables than this, but this was the standard table I built for my buddy who ran the pub league. Over about two years I did a couple dozen of them for him.

Hope to see you there this year! 2 days goes really fast but still had a fantastic time. If I recall correctly we had 9 chippers in attendance. I think covid kept many away, hoping it will be much bigger this year.

According to @Louisiana hold em the secondary market for tables is non existent in Ohio, so I bet there is a market for quality middle if the road tables @Phoenix_Lights . We have a few table builders in the MD/VA area but many want $1,600 plus for fancy tables, you know raised rails, race tracks and so on. A solid, sturdy clean build like the Blue one above as long as prices are resonable ($600 - $800 range) I would think there would be a market for it!

That sounds great! It would be a lot of fun to play live poker with friends again!

As far as tables go, I would absolutely love to start building them again, especially tables that are a bit higher quality than most of the tables I got to build for my friend’s pub league!

Hi, welcome to PCF! Until 2009, I lived about 30 miles west of you, across the Indiana border in Richmond.

A few years after coming out to Arizona, I met and dated a woman from just west of Dayton. We had grown up only a few miles apart, but never met until we both moved to PHX. It's a small world - everybody here in PHX is from someplace else. (I took two cab rides today. My first driver was from Columbus OH and the second from New York.:) )

Thank you! I actually have family in Phoenix, so I've spent some time out there myself!

Welcome from Cleveland (SW suburb) OH. While I don’t play much hold’em any more, or tournaments anymore it is always good to have another Buckeye on the site. Hit me up if you want to ever want to expand your horizons into PLO variants.

Thank you! I'm definitely familiar with PLO, but I've never really devoted a ton of time to studying the game, so I DEFINITELY don't have any sort of edge where that game is concerned. That said, it is definitely a fun game!

Welcome! I'm in Florida now, but I grew up in your backyard (Middletown) and still make it up there once a year or so to visit family.

Great advice from @Ben8257 - if you can, definitely make it to a meetup or a local chipper's home game. That's by far the best way to interact with folks here and see a bunch of really nice chips.

And if he and @FordPickup92 are there, even better. We played together in February, and I'm looking forward to seeing them again in Vegas next month. They are awesome chippers, and they have an amazing collection that they will happily show off to you!
