I want to run a deepstack bounty game. 20 players. 5.5 hour run time. Need starting stacks and structure.

My highest denom of my high roller set is 5K (3 barrels), but I have a few 25K plaques from a different set.

Need available chip denominations/quantities to determine optimal starting stacks (unless you plan to add-on if you don't currently have enough chips).

20-player deepstack tournament

T25,000 starting stacks:
12 x T25
17 x T100
12 x T500
7 x T1000
2 x T5000
---
50 chips = T25K

Blind structure (250BB starting stacks)
15-minute blind levels, all blind increases between 25%-50%.

With 20-players, the tournament should end around L18 or L19. With 15-minute blind levels, that is right at 5 hours total time (4.5 hours play plus color-up breaks). Structure will run about 6.5 hours total with 20-minute blinds. 16- or 17-minute blind levels would hit your 5.5 hours total time target.

Use 20x T5000 chips to color-up the T25, T100, and two/thirds of the T500 chips in play. You will need 3 x T25K plaques to replace the remainder of the T500's, and another 6 x T25K plaques to replace the T1000 chips in play (if you choose to do so). There are only 200 chips in play once heads-up, so removing the T1000s is not absolutely necessary.

Hey Dave. What if I wanted to add antes to this structure? Think it would work? Maybe if I start them after the first break? How would you define them if I'm trying to encourage action?

Not sure that antes are needed with the referenced structure -- with an average blind increase of 37%, it should keep action reasonably brisk without them. Antes are best used with really long blind levels, and/or structures with very relaxed blinds (20%-25% average increases). By design, that structure has neither.

Adding antes will also alter color-up points (T25 chips will be in play longer, as will T100's, etc.).

Personally, I wouldn't do it - especially if you use dedicated dealers. Self-policing antes with pass-the-deal is a frickin' nightmare.

However, if you insist, try this (new L4 addded):
