I figured we can use this thread to discuss the “tradition like no other”. Ladies and Gentleman, it’s go time! It’s...”The Masters”

I'm SOOOO looking forward to this! It didn't feel right watching it in November last year.

I was fortunate to be there exactly two years ago today (the Wednesday before the 2019 Tiger Woods win). Such a fantastic place.

Definitely worth an each-way bet! I'll be going with Finau, too, as well as Leishman as my outside pick.

Make the most of this tournament before people like this actually get their way...

To be fair the name Master carries a shitton of negative connotation in a former confederate state, they could consider a name change to something a little less steeped in oppression. I don't want to see it canceled or boycotted, but maybe given a second consideration in light of some history.

Or maybe we could just consider that this golf tournament is for golfing "masters". It was established decades after slavery was abolished, so to even insinuate that it's tied to slavery is a stretch. I mean, a black man has won this event five times and is one of the most beloved golfers in history. Let's just enjoy the tournament and stop being offended by everything.

Sorry for the derail. I'll stick to the actual golf tournament if I post in this thread again.

I get it, I really do — but when you start changing a tournament's name, I believe that's probably the first step in it seeing it boycotted or cancelled.

As somebody who spent five years of his career as a golf journalist, I know all too well about our sport's problematic past. You could argue that the very nature of the sport is steeped in oppression — do we cancel the entire sport as a result?

I've also witnessed the sport become so much more diverse, democratic and open over the past 20 years or so.

And I'm just worried that a very vocal group of people are willing to overlook this progress, simply to push their political agenda.

Who are y’all picking this year?
I hear the course is much more dried out this year than in recent years, which favors guys who can hit high short irons into the greens. I would love to see Bryson do well - I like watching him play. But Dustin Johnson should do well again.

The official beginning of spring.

I have no idea who I am picking, give me another day. It is going to play FAST until the weekend when there may be some rain.

Hot take, there will be less than 10 scores in the 60's at the close of play on Thursday.

I think the Masters would be right to invite me to play...

...if they wanted the worst player imaginable to set foot on their course. I'm so bad, my puts create divots. ;)

I got of picture of the GOAT four days before his win. Practice green, but still makes me feel fortunate to have been there any day that week.

The Golden Bear wandered really close to us at the par-3 contest. That was pretty damn cool.

The award for the best-looking caddies at the par-3 contest went to the Ricky Fowler/Justin Thomas/Jordan Spieth grouping. Wowsers.

I remember crying watching this with my dad, I won't lie...

Man, if y’all are watching golf channel, these greens are FIRM and FAST! Tomorrow will be interesting if it doesn’t soften up. Watching these guys hit approach shots, and nothing seems to be holding.

Tomorrow will be AWESOME!!!!!!

Revising it to five rounds in the 60s tomorrow.

Players are saying that it’s like fighting Evander Holyfield on the course. There’s apparently no grass on at least 4 of the greens. How the hell did Rose go 7 under on this course?

Gonna be fun as hell to watch though - much moreso than the 20 under that got posted in November.
