10 years and I'm finally replacing my cloth and foam, so I have some questions:

- I was thinking of going fancy, but might just go with a burgundy speed cloth. Where best to buy that? Tchan? I was thinking he's mostly custom cloth
- I want to replace the foam. I could remove this cloth now and measure it, but would rather leave the foam in place and order the cloth and foam first. You can see the center is raised a bit above the race track. What size is typical?
- The naughayde is dirty, possibly faded. What's the best product to clean in. I don't need super shiny.

Hopefully, my old picture loaded below. Thanks

Upon further review, and better searching PCF, here's what I've come up with:

- YAT speed cloth - ok?
- Foam - Gym Rubber from foam factory - this is open cell, which holds up better to denting, while providing a very nice playing surface, correct?
- I did clean the naugahyde, but might consider something to bring a little life back into the rail and track.

There are a few places to get speed cloth (Texas Poker Supplies, YAT, dozens of places on the Internet) if thast is what you want. And I'm not saying that you shouldn't go that route if cost is the main concern. T_Chan's gaming suede is different than speed cloth, with a different feel, durability and sliding characteristics. It comes from the factory in white, so you need to get it printed anyway, so you might as well get something fully customized for the same price (2 hrs design included).

For restoring the naugahyde, that might depend on the texture. Shinier textures you might be able to use Armor-All, but that would destroy the more fuzzy textures.

I’m in the same boat as you on a few of these items. I’m definitely using the 1/4” gym rubber for the table padding under the SSC as recommended by @Dix. I will be getting my SSC from @Nick@TPS because I just like how much more vivid the colors are and how sharp the pattern is on his product over YAT’s cloth...but my friend recently did his table with YAT’s royal blue and it’s definitely a quality product. Don’t think you can go wrong with either. He did use Volara for under the cloth and I do not like it. Now, if I could just decide on color of my cloth, I’d be all set to order the remaining items I need to get my build started. I’d 100% go with a @T_Chan gaming suede if I wasn’t on a tight budget for this build and the table won’t be permanently residing in my garage.

I'm confused. I looked at the gym pad you mentioned and its a closed cell, not open. And if its anything like the gym pads I have seen, I wouldnt want that under my table felt, that stuff is extremely dense. factory foam has lots of optionsfor other foams though, so I'm not sure which is best.

Thanks folks. I ordered the gym rubber. I also ordered speed cloth. I've been tempted for years to get a Chan cloth, but can't seem to come up with a decent idea for a design. This is my first time replacing the cloth/foam. The top was easy enough to remove, so hopefully it's a smooth process. I'll keep thinking Chan to see what I can come up with.

Foam factory had two types. Both were described as closed cell, but this one appeared to be more of an "open", so I'm giving it a shot. If it's too dense, I won't use it. This is the one I purchased: https://www.foambymail.com/GR-_BLACK/gym-rubber-black.html

I think the name of gym rubber can be misleading to most people. Foam Factory’s “gym rubber” is a material called Ensolite. It’s been discussed here in a few threads. It’s great stuff and I use it frequently...just not for poker tables. I make gaskets out of it and not until reading here that people love it for their table top padding, I would have never thought to use it for a poker table.

Ensolite is not rubber. It is a foam and yes, it is a closed cell foam. But it’s a completely different foam than the Volara 2A that many builders use on their tables. Even though it’s densities are similar, Ensolite is softer and way more flexible than Volara. Ensolite gives you a perfect balance of firmness for stacking chips high while giving a better amount of cushion for lifting cards. Both materials are moisture resistant with Volara being a little better in that department. Using a quality SSC or gaming suede makes the moisture resistance a moot point since they’re both treated to repel moisture anyways. I still would wipe up any spills immediately though.

Where Ensolite really shines is its rebound ability. Most closed cell foams can be easily damaged if heavy objects are allowed to rest on it for and significant amount of time. Volara will have indentations that typically do not completely rebound if say a heavy chip case would be left on top of it overnight. Some people report that their indentations return to normal and that’s great, but most do not. Ensolite is much more forgiving regarding rebound qualities. I still wouldn’t recommend leaving anything heavy sitting on it overnight. I wouldn’t leave anything heavy on any padded surface either...why chance it. Again, all of this has been discussed here in other threads but I think it’s important enough to bear repeating.

Thanks. I did most of that reading, which is how I ended up riding the gym rubber. I did notice ”dents” in my current table, so this should be nice.

I just built a new table this weekend using the same gym rubber from foam factory. I haven't played on it yet, but from the feel of it I like it a lot more than volara I used on my last table. It's a lot easier to pickup cards.
