I’ve seen some of you guys harvesting casino, how do you do it?
I assume you can’t really walk into a poker room ask you a rack of $1s and walk out? You can’t finishing playing and just walk out the poker room with racks of chips and not cash out at the desk? Any time I’m playing table games as soon as I go to leave they ask for your stacks to colour up.
I saw a guy on here a few weeks ago harvesting 25c chips. How are you getting a large number of 25c chips??? I can only remember getting 25c when getting a $5 black Jack.
Id love some advice here guys as I’m in Canada and think my best option for a low limit cash set might be to harvest one.
Thanks.

I've heard of quite a few harvesters asking the cage for a rack and getting one, but not too often.

I usually bring a lap top bag that doubles as a man purse. Buy from the cage or rathole them from the table.

I can comfortably fit 4 full racks of chips in the bag.

Most main cages will not sell racks. However, many poker room cages will. And yes, you can walk out with them. Just don't take the racks. Bring your own chip boxes. As mentioned above, I also bought a small bag (with empty chip boxes) to load them into.

This also depends on the place, to be fair. Not me but, uh, my friend Esteban has gone straight to his hotel room after 2 hours in the poker room with his chips in a rack and returned the next morning to cash chips sans rack.

Not me, but my friend Esteban, has harvested not chips but racks before lol. Neither Esteban nor I would suggest doing this with a bag full of chips though.

Yes, just walk in, buy chips, walk out.

Keep some things about harvesting in perspective... The employees are just workers, these arent THEIR chips. Chips are a cash substitute, you are paying for them, they are yours until you cash them in, so if you want to cash them in the next day, or never, is up to you. The only thing the workers care about is that they have enough chips to run the games. The casino operators MAY care about heavy volumes of small chip harvesting because that means they have to keep buying new ones and could impact running games if they dont have enough. When we harvest low denom chips, its a small $$ loss to the casino. When you harvest $5 and up chips, the casino will probably sell you all you want, its easy cash (as long as they can still run games). But dont worry about casinos losing money on chips. Watch any of the bigger properties and see how much $$$$$$$$ they waste on appearances. Just last weekend I saw the Beau Rivage rip out 10s of 1000s worth of perfect flowers and replace them just to change the colors.

I will tell you that if you play craps for harvesting 1s the dealers might not be super happy. When they have to 'restock' the bank in craps the game stops for a while and the players get pretty damn annoyed. You may have luck at a busy craps table squirrelling away 1s but the dealers will for sure notice if 4 racks of 1s disappear from the table in an hour or two.

This is a great point. Conversely, if you just want a single chip for a souvenir, I've found a dead craps table has been the best place to get one. They seem happy someone is talking to them and they've been helpful in picking out a decent chip from the stack.

100%. Craps dealers are my favorite dealers.

About 15 years ago a local casino opened up. I had a friend who went during the grand opening and went to go play poker. He went to the poker cage to buy in for $200 for a 1/2 game. They were so flustered and busy they gave him $200 in mint 50¢ chips. Being a chipper he immediately left the casino with all of those minty fracs.

That is such a great find, better than winning big on poker

Does anyone know approximately how much casinos pay for the low denomination chips without security features in them? Under $1, right?

100% True....
Poker rooms are the absolute easiest & poker rooms that have low limit games like 3/6 or 4/8 limit take it to a whole other level because they give out racks of $1's all the time for the game.

Thanks guys
Any suggestions on getting 25c?
It has been hard to get any fractionals for at least 30 yrs now & it's only going to get tougher as the games played in Casinos are generally not that small anymore.

I wouldn't waste too much time trying as you will put in way more effort than it is worth. If you really need a 25c chip or a 5c chip in your game, relabel a rack from somewhere or go with customs.

It probably varies quite a bit on which kind of chips, how complex and/or security features etc, but $1/chip is a nice # that seems pretty ballpark

At least $1 per chip I imagine for "clay". That's why hot stamped unicorns, or hot stamped plastic Bud Jones are popular casino choices for fracs, since they are way cheaper.

Want to harvest some $1's at MGM Grand, so after playing I walked up to the poker desk and ask if there is any objection to taking a souvenir chip home with me. They said, fine, people do that all the time. Then I asked if there was any limit on how many I could take. She says, no of course not. So I pull out $200 and ask for two racks. She looks startled, but I remind her I had just asked if there was a limit and she clearly said no.

Another trip wanted some $1's from Bellagio. On that trip I played several sessions, each time getting change for $5's and never using the $1's until I had a stack of 20-40 or so. At end of each session, I put those in my backpack (ALWAYS carry a backpack!) and the last day put a couple empty racks in the backpack too.

This only works for poker, as the tables games all want to color you up as soon as you stop playing.

If you are good at Poker it is almost no effort at all to get at least a barrel or two at any session almost no matter the game. Like I said earlier, limit is the best, but even if you are playing 1/2nl or 2/5nl it is very easy. Just always put out a $5 for the small & big blinds. They will keep giving you $1's back. Clearly 1/2nl is better than 2/5nl if all you are after is harvesting. If you are sorting, obviously this will yield less chips but you'll wind up with a bunch every session.

Limit 4/8 is easiest go sit at a table and pretend you're building a chip castle. Then pretend to get an all and have to leave suddenly.

You could probably go to a black jack table. $5 min and play keep asking the dealer to break a $5 into $1 so you can tip them give them the worst keep the best 4 and keep pocketing them.
Maybe go to Roulette that's full and ask to play singles inside with $1 chips. Then they have to pay you in $1 chips and you can sort them and play and pull off the table after a win.

Can you do this? Most casinos I've been to have a different chipset that's just for roulette...

They do but, they also have regular chip denoms. Some people play $5 and $25 chips inside. I wouldn't take all their chips cause they need them for change for others but you could probably take 100 easy if you got deep pockets or a fanny pack. Spread the $1 chips that are damaged back on the table or as tips or color up. You got a bit of down time in between the spin and other folks betting so you can sort. If you tip well they won't care and you're allowed to pocket chips off the table do it after a big win happens all the time.

Forgive my ignorance, I don't go to casinos, but won't the dealer and other people at the table get annoyed with you constantly putting out $5 chips and having to make change for you when you have $1 chips in your stack?

Traditional roulette is *never* played with value checks. Every person plays with their own colour, and the dealers keep track of their value by using lammer chips (I'm not sure if I'm using the term correctly here) to keep track. The value chips at each table are only used for cashing out when a player is about to leave the table. Roulette chips that have left the table, by mistake or on purpose, are automatically declared valueless.

I know the answer. I might as well answer it. It’s $1.38 with ZERO and I mean no features (plus tax) and crate rate shipping. The 43mm start at $1.68. Hope that helps.

Not sure if you are joking or serious.....

I would be willing to bet that not every Casino pays the same for chips. Just like Walmart and Costco have buying power & get things cheaper than the mom & pop shop so do the Big casinos vs a small place.

Im serious as a heart attack. How much would you like to wager? I love gambling, even more so when I know the outcome. There are no deals for bulk that I’m aware of at Paulson, maybe at matsui, for I have no idea what goes over there, or at the other suppliers, just GPI.

Ok, maybe you do really know. I am not interested in wagering on something that I am unsure of and am up against a guy that says he is 100% sure. I am not in the business so I don't really know for sure. Maybe you are? Care to share how you know this info?

I know it because I’m in contact with GPI, people who have ordered from them, and people who can currently order for their federally licensed casinos. Guess you just have to trust me on this one, I value my integrity more then anything. Only thing we left out was minimum order requirements which vary case by case but lead into the tens of thousands, but again sorry, no bulk discounts that I’m aware of. Have u seen the GPI brochure? =)

Edit: I just got flack for taking about GPI pricing so I’m gonna leave it at that for reasons I don’t want to discuss in public. Feel free to DM me as no need to ruffle any feathers...
