Hi Everyone!

I hope you are all doing well. I got into chip-collecting and building custom sets around 2007. Then life hit me hard in 2013 and I had to take a break from the hobby and playing poker. It was a tough decision to make, but I weathered the storm and are trying to get back into it.

I am actually an old member of chiptalk.net, and I found this site when I attempted to visit the old CT forum. I was bummed to see the old site shut down, but I'm happy to have found this site and see that the hobby is still going strong and thriving. If there are any other old CT members here, it would be great to reconnect. My username is pretty much the same except I have a 623 at the end of the name instead of 619. The change seemed appropriate since I no longer live in San Diego.

It's great to meet you all and I'm looking forward to interacting with everyone. I'll try to post a couple of pictures of my custom sets soon. I have to dig them out of storage.

Welcome back to an old CT alumnus! I'm in Tucson myself and wish there were more chippers around. Once this COVID is over, it would be great to do a casual meetup, show off sets, talk about old times when there were large CT meetups regularly.

Thanks @dajebriza ! An AZ meetup would be great. I always remember CT having them regularly. I was bummed that I missed out on the Sin City Showdown meet-up. I was all set to go and then had to back out last minute. The chips that Harlequinn came up with for the event were awesome and would have been great to play with at the event. Hopefully, we will see more of them after this whole pandemic is past us.

I originally had a meetup planned for March of this year but COVID saw to that getting cancelled. We’ll do a full-scale meetup in March 2022, but I’m sure we can do an AZ chipper meetup before then. Maybe August/September?

If the state of the pandemic has died down by then, an AZ meetup sounds like a great idea. I guess we just wait it out and see how things look in the next few months.

Your timeline sounds fairly similar to mine, and now I'm just getting back into the hobby too. Fortunately, PCF seems to be doing a great job carrying things forward. I'm in the east valley, Arcadia area - hope we can have an AZ meetup in summer or fall, post-covid.

@byline9 You were on chiptalk as well right? I recognize your username. PCF had definitely done a great job of carrying this hobby, and to be honest, it seems like the chippers on this board are more hardcore than the old members at CT. There is some reason money being spent on sets here. It's good to see that a lot of the old vendors are still around. I was surprised Palm Imports wasn't on the board. Joe added me on linked and he seems to still be running the business. I agree about an AZ meetup though. Hopefully this whole covid bs will pass over by summer and life can start getting back to normal.

TurboJ back in the house

I'm trying! I finally found the two sets that I was able to keep. I also found a ton of random sample sets lol. Didn't realize how many of those I had. I"m going to try and share some pics within the next week or so.

We’re moving out to either Gilbert or Fountain Hills later this year - would love to help with a AZ meetup!
Awesome! What brings you out to Arizona from NC? I had a job offer out there a while back, and almost moved out there. Kind of wish I did that now. Lol

I would go with Gilbert or Chandler over Fountain Hills, which is quite far from things. Goodyear is nice too, but also pretty far away, out west. In all of those cases, you're probably going to be driving around the area a lot, things are really spread out here.

I was part of the faux clay nation about 10 years ago at CT. I still have a playable set of them in a box at the bottom of my closet, haven't used them since then. Moved out here to AZ in 2009. A Valley meetup this summer or fall would be great!

I actually have been lurking on PCF on and off for a while, came back just looking for something to do. :) I'm not sure what Joe is up to these days but I believe Palm Imports sold out to another vendor and has been out of the poker chip game for several years. I think since covid has kept people at home, buying and selling chips has been a business opportunity to some people, and for others, an outlet to relieve boredom (me) or clean out their closets for useful cash.

Ah, yes! The Faux Clay Nation! I was a member myself with a 1000 chip set at one point. What a duality of a chip that was. Hideously ugly, but so perfectly stacking, feeling and sounding, so much more-so than anything else coming out of China from Sunfly, etc.

The Faux Clay Nation was a great group. I always enjoyed seeing your guys post about the chips. I think I still have a sample set that someone gave to me. I'll have to look for it.

In Chandler for any future chip trades or sales! Look forward to saving on shipping! Lol
