After lots of discussions back and forth with my wife and daughter on colours and spots it looks like I have finally narrowed down my choice for a custom CPC set. A few notes to share. My last name starts with H I do not desire the H mold. The A mold is my favorite but I do like to hear members thoughts. The inlay you see is just a place holder for now. Over the holidays I am going to get my wife to work on refining a design I have sketched out. It will be based on a Maui theme as our family has had 5 visits and fall in love with the island every time we have gone. I love mixing up colours and since the group of friends that I play with couldn't care less about colours I wanted to go with what I enjoy for combinations. Chip #2 is based on the 2007 WSOP Seconday 25000 charcoal quarter pie which I have always found to be my favorite of the WSOP chips. I have had lots of fun changing spot patterns from my first set of "this is the one" to this current lineup. I do have a sample set of CPC chips and being able to overlay the chips together has been a huge help.

Any and all opinions are welcome. And I am wondering about changing the base colour of #4 to DG Pink

Initial impressions are that the majority of the chips are going to be really dark, especially in lower-light.

Also I have no idea what denoms these are and whether it's a tourney or cash set, it's not traditional colors for either...

Lastly - I think the 25k chip is a dark brown base with peach spots (not arc, as the 1ks are arc base) , closer to this, maybe choose a brighter base for your current brown chip?

I like the A mold, both for look and feel. But I have only touched a few of the available molds, and haven't really played with any.

I was going to comment that your inlay seems to stick out like a sore thumb, but then I re-read your OP and saw that it is just a placeholder. I suggest giving a lot of thought to the inlay, as that could influence the base/spot colours (and vice-versa).

Base colour of #4 is a bit too close to #4 IMO. The DG Pink (or DG Tiger) might look sharp.

Looking forward to seeing this as it progresses! And congrats on making the decision to go fully custom!

Personally, I despise the A-mold. Both visually and tactilely. It's probably my least favorite CPC mold. I'd imagine you've done this in your 6 years here, but just in case you haven't, get a shuffle stack of every mold you would even remotely consider. It can change your perspective on mold choice considerably. CPC molds all feel wildly unique.

Hey leave the A-mold alone  :ROFLMAO:. There’s plenty of us who think it’s the best feeling and most visually appealing mold.

I keep going back and forth between charcoal and black as the base. But I have not taken a closer look at dark brown. Will look.
And sorry, I forgot to add that it will be a tourney set. 25, 100, 500, 1000, 5000.

Your base colours are all neutral and darker. Consider playing around with that a bit. Sometimes alternating darker and lighter between successive denominations gives you that needed bit of contrast that keeps the whole progression together.
Boy of boy did I ever get crapped on when I wanted to change the base colour for # to light blue. More to come and thanks.

Definitely get a color sample from CPC if you don’t have one. The colors can vary from what the website displays.

In that case the spot progression seems way off. If it were me (and it's not, I know), I would either start with fewer spots on the $25, with progressively more spots as the denoms increase (common on cash sets), or because these are NCV, you could pick a single spot pattern (but with different colours) for the entire set (the tri-moon would work very well for that)

If these are to have a tropical Hawaiian theme, may also want to think about lightening and brightening up the base colour scheme a bit (actually a lot). Bright White, DG Peacock, DG Pink, DG Tiger, etc. are a lot more "tropical" (although don't use the Tiger and Pink as base in the same set - they look too much alike in low light).

IMO!

This was my first "hard" kick at the can. I was very happy with the chips with a bit of nod to Karl's from Sparks, NV (Blue) and Lakeshore (Brown). I was trying to keep the spot progression as part of the design and trying to keep a bit of the cost down. My plan is go with a 600 chip set. Please note that our CDN peso only gets about $.78 to every green back. However, my wife said get what you want so the chips have changed since this saved set.

I second this.

Here is an update. Total of 600 chips remains the same but I am trying to carve a little expense from the set. And lighten up some of chips themselves as per members thoughts.

Is this a cash or tournament set?

it is helpful to know which chips will be in play together most of the time.

The poker chip design tool is the best and worst thing on the site. :banghead: I can't stop making changes.View attachment 598478

you have a 3 spot progression on chips 2-5. Chip 1 is a sore thumb.

I don’t like repeating a spot pattern as well.

having grey and black next to each other doesn’t feel right either, get some color for the first chip. Light green base would be good.

some comments on your latest mockup based on my own personal preferences, please don't take any of them the wrong way.

1. the biggest issue to me feels like the base color lineup. it goes (roughly speaking) grayscale - grayscale - color - color - dark color.
2. not a fan of repeating a color 3 times within 4 chips (black)
3. also not a fan of repeating a spot pattern for this kind of set (preferred the previous 3A12 for the top chip)

I didn’t realize black was the spot color on chips 1 & 4, viewing on my phone. Agree on changing both chips spot colors as well.

I am not a fan of a grey base. I would use white or black.

Likewise, instead of brown I would use a different base color.
I second this. Grey just seems boring to me.

If you're going grey base, at least get rid of the black spots and put another color with some pop in there.

I agree with what most are saying. Maui is tropical, bright, flowery.
maybe light green on the 25 and fewer spots. Maybe tri moon on the 25 or 2A12.
the 25k maybe butterscotch.
and agree either do every chip w same spot pattern or don’t repeat at all.

Did not realize I had repeated the spot pattern between #2 and #5. Let me know how this one looks. Not sure what to do with #1. I don't want to go with green as at some point I will probably buy a Casino set that already has green as the $25. There is continuity that #2 - #5 all kind of share a 3 spot pattern.
