Database problems have become so bad at the "other site" that I can no longer see or make posts on the FDL thread. In the hopes that the FDL mold can be repaired, I have finished the work on my proposed set. I have tinkered with this 2 sided design for quite a long time, adding minor tweaks and adjustments for months. Still, at the prices we pay for CPC chip quality, only a fool (or a genius in the case of those Bel-Air chips) wouldn't run the ideas past this group before sending the whole thing to production. A few of the designs have been revealed on the FDL revival thread, but this is the first time they have been shown in one group.

So VERY COOL! Nice work!

I like both (and thankfully reread the OP so I now DONT have to make a choice!) so I say DO IT!!!

BTW I'm in for two complete samples of these!

Like your colors and spot patterns as well... Kind of crazy but it works spectacularly with the theme!

Congrats!

my brain is elsewhere at the moment so i can't really give a full rundown as to the spots, but i love the sombrero zombie :D

The T1000 chip is spectacular. It took me some seconds to realize that the base color is yellow and not black.
Not sure why but the T25000 chip looks a bit out of place though. Moreover I think the denom and text are bit close to the edge.

Otherwise they are looking great.

Sweet. I love the 25k all around.

And the 5k is my favorite artwork EVER. :) I thought we discussed this "spot that isn't a spot" though???

The 500 is probably my favorite chip as far as the eye test, but I'm unclear exactly what is going on with the zombie on that one? Is that a miter?

I love this project, great mock-up,
I agree with spikeithard for the $25000 chip,

Not sure why but the T25000 chip looks a bit out of place though. Moreover I think the denom and text are bit close to the edge.

The text/denom on the T25,000 is the only one outlined with white (instead of black). This gives the impression of being bigger and closer to the edge. Ideally, I would like the denom higher, to complete the clockwise progression of the denoms, but 25,000 is a really big number and we didn't want it to be the feature of the chip design. That's why the sombrero rules so much of the chip space - it draws the eye downward (positive space yellow arrows) toward the zombie.

maybe try an orange based chip for the T25,000?

The bounty chip will be orange. Originally set to be an FDL chip, we decided that it will be better to do it as a plaque or an OWPS octagon. The decision was mostly financially based, but a chip that cannot be mixed into a stack has extra appeal as well.

The 5k is my least favorite spot pattern so far. I oiled my CPC samples and the spotless spot is more noticeable than the chip designer makes it look. I have been plodding around with Photoshop and am considering a spot pattern like Redbelly's 25,000 chip, but with a light chocolate base, butterscotch center spot, and dark chocolate outer spots on either side of the butterscotch (also possible to run with the butterscotch and dark chocolates reversed). That art however is currently on my home computer, so I would need to post it at a later time.

As a side note, never oil chips with bamboo oil. It stays oily for a really, really long time... :p

Holy crap these already are fantastic! I really hope the FDL works out and these make a guest appearance at SATP II!

It looks like he has a giant plate of eggplant?????

The 500 was named "Blueberry Pie", though the image has blackberries. I'm guessing it's back to illustrator if the image is hard to see.

As a side note, this site needs better emoticons...

In all fairness I am viewing it on an iPhone. Not sure if it would have been more clear to me on a more reasonable sized screen

Bigger screen perhaps, but it is one of those things. I know what it is. Mrs. Poker Zombie knows what it is. But 30 of my other players will be clueless, and you know every time someone asks, none of the other 29 will hear the description, so in 5 minutes I will be describing it again...and again...and again...

This is exactly the kind of feedback that I was looking for (well that and the "
So VERY COOL! Nice work!" type posts).

Just really hoping the FDL can be fixed. Hourglass is too busy of a mold (the inlay is already busy), and anything under 1 1/16" inlay squishes the zombie.

These look great! And I love the A and B sides for an inlay. I don't really have any suggestions other than to follow on the 25K chip......all of the other labels have a somewhat color matched border on the inlay and the 25K does not it is an altogether different color than any color of the chip. Just a thought.

Agree that the artwork needs to be pulled back from the inlay edges. It is definitely worth the $$ to have an experienced chip designer take your 'final' artwork and put their professional touches on it prior to sending to CPC. Those guys have invaluable experience designing images destined for small inlays, and are intimately familiar with file formats, overbleed requirements, color conflicts, and a whole ton of stuff you haven't even thought about yet. Biggest mistake most people make with custom chips is doing the artwork themselves without professional guidance.

Also not a fan of the spotless chocolate chip, fwiw.

Images are spectacular, however -- who knew zombies could be so entertaining?!

On the spotless, I am looking at using a light chocolate base with maroon instead of chocolate spots, but maroon is non-existent in the chip factory. I've taken some photos, but yikes it it tough to get "correct" lighting!

A little birdy told me the FDL repairs have been successful! [emoji2]

So stoked at some of the sets that will be coming out of this batch. The Zombies and Boulevard sets both immediately leap to mind.

Great design on a great mold! Start the sample set thread!! Love the blueberry!

Finally, I got a post to stick on CT after trying all day but I'm just about done on there I think.
Is everyone I know over here now?

I think the defection has been almost absolute.

Just testing to see if I've figured out how to get my signature etc. to show?
