Hey i, getting ready to buy my set .
just getting ready to buy my set just want to make sure i will have enough to cover one table of 10 with one rebuy
t100 base starting out 20k stacks
t100-150
t500-50
t1000-120
t5000-60

is there any chips more or anything?

Heads up, your largest chip should be no more than 50% of the total chips in play.

10x20k = 200k/5k = 40 chips/2 = you only need 20 5k chips max.

Mine might be more efficient for chips, but less efficient for gameplay—less change being made, etc.

Either way, you have way too many large chips, which isn’t necessarily a problem. With that breakdown, you could do 15/5/11/5 for starting stacks of 40,000.

BTW, the most efficient breakdown as far as chips go would be 10/4/7/2. You would need 100/40/100/40

FWIW... With lots of people switching to BBA structures, T25s are kinda-sorta heading towards obsolescence.

Tourneys start at the 100/100 opening level, then 100/200, with the BBA kicking in at Level 3 - 100/200/200.

I understand the logic behind the BBA. What I don't understand is why it comes from the player in the Big Blind? In my mind, a button ante makes more sense. Can someone explain to me why BBA is better than Button Ante?

Edit: It makes sense now. I don't buy the "2 players putting money in vs 3" but I get the concern with a dead button.

I'd personnally do :
T100 x 100
T500 x 60
T1000 x 110
T5000 x 60
Optional : T25000 x 10 (in case you need to color-up the T1000, which might happen if everyone one rebuys, although very unlikeky)

With starting stack : 10/6/11/1
One rebuy as 4 x T5000
And one T5000 per player to manage the color-up of T100 and T500.

I've almost the same requirement as you except it's freezeout and T30K.

Sorry I missed the rebuy so if everyone rebuys you would need another 40 5k chips at most. 60 total.

You have 40k in 100s and 500s on the table so if the stacks are 15/5/6/2 you would need at most 100 1k chips to colour everything up to 1k and 5k chips.

So you can cut down your set to
150 100
50 500
100 1k
60 5k

360 chips. If you are storing in racks then 360 would fit perfectly in 3 racks with no loose chips.

Heads up if stacks are even, each person is sitting with 50 1k chips and 30 5k chips in front of them. In reality not everyone will rebuy so you will have some 5k chips left over to colour up some of the 1k chips so you will have approx 40-60 chips left on the table each heads up which is reasonable.

Personally I would never introduce antes for tourneys with less than 20 players. Antes are there to induce action. With less than 2 tables, the tables will soon become short handed and naturally create more action without the need for antes.

With a tourney of 30 players, 3 tables, at most the tables will get down to 7/7/7 before you break a table and fill it back up to 10/10 so antes will be beneficial in driving action because for the majority of the tournament the tables will be mostly full.

Depends on structure but for me it is the $1k. If you want to run deeper stacks occasionally you can get more 5k or some 25k as some have suggested.

I'm loving this thread. I'm a newbie host as well..I've run a dozen or so games. T10K Reload, all of them. The exceptions were two of them. I did a T20K T100 base Reload Tournament and also did a mini Deepstack T15K Reload.

My sets are built for 18 players max. I usually end up with 12-13 players (but then COVID made sure I have 0)

My Breakdowns are pretty much all the same...

240/240/140/200/100 is about an average over the 4 tournament sets I got. (one of my sets features a T25K chip)

With the games I have run, to answer the question, the T1K is a horse.
