Hello Chippers.
In anticipation of my lovely RHC's making their way to UK shores I am looking at storage options. I plan to clean and oil them when they arrive as I think oiled chippies look nicer - I'll be sure to do this properly as I've seen a few threads on how to do it best.
My current ceramic tourney set live in a briefcase style case like the below. The inside lining looks to be have flocked / felt lined so the chips are nice and comfy when tucked up to sleep.
Would this sort of lining cause issues with oiled chips? IE would they attract the black fluff any worse than normal?
My other option is to get some racks and an Acrylic Bird Cage to keep them in - so I can stare at them longingly between home games!
I've seen some cheap bird cage units on eBay but the consensus here seems to be that the racks don't fit Paulson chips all that well. All the recommended racks seem to be from the US.
So some questions around this:
Do the ill fitting racks cause damage to chips over time? or is just an aesthetics thing.
Do the chips have to sit tight in the rack, or can there be a little breathing room (slide front/back)?
Could the chips warp if they are not tight in the rack, or is warping caused by storing in poor conditions?
My 500 chips are coming to the UK in MFRB when all purchasing is complete, along with some playing card sets. Could I fit 5 racks in the same box? Or would this risk damage. If it's fine, I could just buy some racks Stateside, then include them in my US parcel.
Thanks All
