Obviously I wouldn't expect the CPC large crown chips to feel identical to the TRK version due in part to the objective differences between the clay formula, but I'd be interested in hearing from folks who have CPC large crown sets or have reasonably good experience handling them beyond the few chips I have in hand sent out as samples.

I expect it is kind of a surreal experience for long-time TRK lovers to get a set on this mold now and that it might be kind of a curse to be constantly comparing them to the classic TRKs, but....could you do that please? :)

How do they feel in general? How do they feel compared to the TRK-produced large crowns? How is stack height uniformity? What else jumped out at you as you shuffled CPC large crowns?

Thanks in advance!

I think TRK didn’t even make the large crown chips if I recall correctly. They were made by the predecessors of CPC back in the day. They are unleaded, unlike the later small crowns that were actually produced by TRK in their Los Angeles factory. I don’t know if this is true for 100% of the large crown chips, but someone here probably does.

Two images for you. Happy to take more, run other tests, or answer any questions I can.

First are 8 barrels double-stacked on a level surface with a level on top. I find when putting them in the CPC racks, they are snug. In a few cases, I had to swap half of a too-tight barrel with half of a looser barrel to get them in, and easily worked. Not an issue for me.

Second is a nice rack seat. The lcrowns and scrowns are also the smallest diameter CPC chips, and they fit almost perfectly in the CPC racks.

You can also see that the inlay is also smooth, which helps bring out the design better than the textured inlays on most other molds. (Seeing as I designed these entirely myself, I probably used a too small font on the third line, but it works for me- an inadvertent vintage feel.)

I don’t have any of the non CPC version, so I can’t compare feel. But I like ‘em.

Biggest drawback? No hotstamp. I made the error of using a B mold for hotstamped fracs. It made sense given the design, but it’s a slightly larger chip and I didn’t take that into consideration. As a result, the B mold stacks oddly with the lcrowns and sits higher in the CPC racks. In retrospect, I should have gone inlay for my fracs; I may swap them out at some point.

Edit: typo

Exactly what I was looking for - thank you!

And love your set. I don't think your third line of text is too small at all. I was discussing the other day with another chipper that current custom design trends are for all huge text and big, clear graphics, but that some of my favorite designs from back in the day were super intricate and almost impossible to read at the current arms length standard. I get why current standards are desirable in many instances, but if they were used to judge something like the Bucket of Blood chips, for example, those chips would have never been pressed. Long digression, but all to say that "Poker Club" is plenty big on your design. :D

If anyone else has any thoughts on the CPC large crown I'd love to hear them.
