..And thank you to whomever I bought it from (eBay)..

Been looking for an affordable, unique cash set for months & finally found these.
Anyone know what they are & where these colors came from? Very eye catching, I like em. Around $350 for the 1000 set, racks & cage, 300/1$, 500/$5, 200/$25. I’d like to think I got a steal, what do you say?

I think you paid a fair price for what you got. It is not a steal.

I was in the market for Majestics at .42 so that’s what makes me feel that way. They are extremely consistent in size & slick, add the custom colors/labels.
I was looking at $950 for the same features on the website(no racks/cage).
(Plus got Free Shipping!)

Chalk this up as a win - you did business on eBay and were not screwed over and were not price gouged :)
I too am amazed XD
I ordered some cool brass $100’s from eBay also and they were stolen during transit, the empty box arrived filled with only newspaper and regret:dead:
Back to the drawing board on that.

That's uranium.
Uranium or Vibranium? ;)

China Clay chips are what you bought

Any ideas on where they were ordered from?

@ForeverFiancee I believe these were originally produced by a company from Florida called Palm Gaming(PGI). They were available as blanks or PGI could print labels for you. PGI also closed shop a ways back.

These could be any number of semi custom sets.

Ok cool. Just curious. My first set, main concern was no one else having them or being able to order them, they seem to definitely fit the bill in that case.
Good looking chips!

Thanks!

They look to be good bright colors for a china clay chip. There are some cheap versions of china clay chips out there that were prone to chipping/flaking after being played with, but I'm not sure these are those. That might be the deciding factor if they're worth it or not. If you put them in play a couple times and no issues, then even better.
  • Nice colors in a California casino color scheme (blue 1s, yellow 5s, purple $25s, ...the next step would be white $100s).
  • Good chip breakdown for a 1/1, 1/2 or 2/5 cash game; or alternatively use the $25 chips as 25 cent chips to play 25/50 cent blinds.
  • Classy and unique mold. I think it's a Greek mold, or key mold (?), (someone else here would know better).
  • Labels look nice and are well done. (and may be custom?, or limited from a particular online seller maybe?). There's some value in nice/custom labels already done.
  • Price is probably right on for the market just for the chips, and you basically got the birdcage for free.
What's not to like!? Congrats on your purchase.

PGI (Palm Gaming) sold their greek key mold (reverse-L version) china clay chips with or without custom high-quality labels, plus they were also available from their retailers (one of which who branded their version as 'Great Wall' or Wallsons).

Because PGI controlled the raw materials used in their chips, the quality and play characteristics tended to be better and more consistent than that found in other mass-produced china clays A 30c to 35c per chip price in today's market is about right for your set, which was likely produced around 12-13 years ago. You certainly could have done a lot worse buying without samples or some in-depth market knowledge, so well-done there.

For example, the Progen-80 china clay chips mentioned earlier (not yours) were made using a similarly-colored but inferior greek key mold (reverse-J version, with an extra hook) with far worse quality control, using recycled materials and typically affixed with low-quality labels. They tend to sell in the 15c-20c per chip range, and mixing Progen-80 chips with your PGI chips would be a mistake, imo.

As @AWenger noted above, the spot pattern and color configurations of PGI's china clay chips (and seveal other manufacturers' chips, too) were 'copied' from several popular Paulson home market chip lines that were initially produced a few years earlier (Top Hat & Cane Classics, Pharaoh's Club & Casino, etc.), circa 2004-2005.

Enjoy your new set!

Excellent Info Guys, Thank You & I appreciate it!

I just took a closer look..Initially I thought the labels could have been molded but I started chipping away with my nail and they are glued. Really well though, I had to really work at it to get it to peel, I doubt I have any issues there.

As far as the 100’s, I was considering just adding the Roadhouse Tunica blacks.. for sentimental purposes haha, I was playing some Horseshoe tourneys & was able to stay there just one night last year before it closed.
Would that be a decent choice?

Adding a real Paulson clay $100 to top off a set of china clay cash chips would probably be the least possible tilting way (to me) to mix the two chip types.

Yeah, those PGI vinyl labels are pretty indestructible. They use UV-activated adhesive, and once set, are extremely difficult to remove.

I’ve had these two samples for a number of years, I likely got them in 2007-8 and always wondered the manufacturer. They look to be the same as in the OP. Thoughts?
