I have Giraffe $1s that I want to overlabel as Flamingo $1s. Let me see your THC overlabels. Would like to know how they are going to look. Cheap? Hard to tell?

How does the label over fee when shuffleing?
That's the part that gets to me..

With my NYNY $1s, I did overlabel. Was totally happy with the results. That is until I started shuffling, and not liking. I guess it depends on the chips too. In the case of the NYNYs, I had to remove the label and went for full murder.

I don't have the same feeling with the AS fracs I overlabeled. They feel not as great as they do without the label, but it's not as noticeable.

Perhaps, my NYNYs are in at least very good to excellent condition and my AS fracs are in dead mint condition, and that small amount of wear makes it just a tad more noticeable to have an overlabel on a used chip. I suppose, even with minty chips, once used, the overlabel will become less and less desirable

Can you overlabel a shaped inlay like the HP $20?
Yes, absolutely.

Careful though, some of the pictures in this thread are milled hotstamps or inlay replacements, not overlabels (e.g. Outpost 25c are milled chips with labels added, and IIRC the PCA $1 were inlay-replaced.)

Oops, yes the Outposts were milled. But the PCA $1s, although started out to be inlay replacements, removing them was not necessary so all but a barrel are label overed.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I would imagine LCV vs SCV could make a difference too. I know that my SCV Empress have a very noticeable difference in depth between the inlay area and the inner ring. I don't even look at the hat and cane anymore, I can sort them by feel with my eyes closed. So I would suspect that the SCV would have a better hand and shuffle feel than LCV with a label over.

You are correct. SCV has a noticable recess for the inlay or hot stamp, making it a better canidate for a label. LCV has almost zero recess. I'd think you would most likely run into stackability issues with the LCV. Spinners, stack wobble, etc...
