If you think this is better than hotel branding...

That’s the true beauty of this hobby though isn’t it (and life in general)? It’s all in the eye of the beholder. One man’s grail chip can just as easily be another man’s potato chip.

Personally, the challenge with rating inlays in and of themselves is that they are only a component of the bigger picture that is the entire chip. Sometimes a simple/boring inlay allows the edge spots to be the star and vice versa. Sometimes everything comes together to create a chip greater than the sum of its parts.

Me? I love the circus and big, bright colours and fun themes. Ergo, these are a 5. :whistling:

Solid 4 in my book. I really like the circus theme and the colors play well since the chips are bright themselves.

This!

Great comments so far. This is a hard one for sure. @Toby knows these are my all time favorites, and @sparky has my favorite all time set put together.

But the inlays....idk I guess if you showed it completely by itself, maybe a solid 4? But @RainmanTrail didn’t cut out and show us only the inlay. It seems so simple and easy to put together (anyone could’ve thought of that!), but the tent, font, each color - I think chosen to perfection and just works beautifully with this chip and the set. 5 all day long.

edit - wow can’t believe the amount of 1 votes. Cool to see the different opinions. I’m guessing those folks are looking purely at the label itself and thinking, eh simple bright colors?

Perhaps you were unaware that it was based on the Carousel chips? Here's a pic for comparison. I'm not a fan of either design personally, original or "borrowed". But, to each their own. Hence we all get to vote.

Yeah I got that awhile back. I’m not voting on any of the processes or whether they were borrowed or what not, just what I think of the aesthetics.

I’m a total sucker for “bright and fun”, so for me that BTP lineup is awesome. Funnily enough, I don’t love the look of the carousel chip. Definitely different strokes different folks.

Looking at the results, these appear to be one of the more divisive inlay designs.

Confirmed!

Much more 'inspired by' than 'based on', imo.....and a much better execution of the idea. The "POKER" text doesn't detract, but I do think it would be a cleaner design without it.

Disagree. The Carousel has some fun details. The BTP is a decent execution, but a little lazy. If it's a circus, show me a lion or an elephant or something. I'd had a circus theme custom set in my head for a couple of years. I may still make it someday. This one is whimsical, but disappointing.

The design flaw to an otherwise good inlay was having the word "poker" on the chip.

For me, it's rewording Greatest Show on Earth. Felt just bugs me. Why limit it to felt? Why change it? A poker game could conceivably still be the greatest show on earth.

It’s a nice nod to poker, personally I think it has a nice ring to it.

Rams weren’t selling tickets to the greatest show on earth.

I can't help but point out that after Belichick had his boys smash Marshall Faulk (who's still bitter) on every damn play, they weren't the greatest show on anything.

All inlay voting threads had an average of 19% chance of being derailed.

The BTP inlay voting thread had an increased 47% chance of being derailed.

It had only a 1.3% chance of being derailed by me arguing the validity of the Rams as the greatest show, but here we go!

What, I'm a patriots fan. I try to keep it polite, but what am I supposed to do?

Reminds me of clowns and I hate clowns. I don't necessarily hate the inlay, but I could never love it. Agree that the word "poker" on the inlay doesn't help. It gives it a home poker chip rather than casino chip look.

Definitely need pics of JUST the inlays for all of these inlay votes. Showing the chips can lead to bias.

I agree that it looks like a home poker chip rather than a casino chip but add this counterexample for the word “poker” on an inlay.
