I just want to know if i should buy a 300 chips 14g clay set or 500 chips 11.5g plastic set,it will be the only set that i'll buy so i thought about clay because the quality but i will use it to play with friends/family
If your answer is neither then what should i get for a good price where i live because shipping is expensiveNeither. The 14gs aren’t clay, they’re just heavier plastic chips. Spend some time here and read up on this, ask questions. Tons of good people here willing to help. And then get samples to see what you prefer.

Hey, for all we know, he could be talking about really leaded paulsons.Neither. The 14gs aren’t clay, they’re just heavier plastic chips. Spend some time here and read up on this, ask questions. Tons of good people here willing to help. And then get samples to see what you prefer.
No matter how many people beat me with a stick!! 14g slugged chips Will still get the job done, especially for a home game. Man my cousin just bought Casino Royales from Apache, we hand a game last weekend and they were just fine, he is a regular player in our games with quality chips and says these are all he is ever going to buy! He is happy with them! (Still hoping that's not true)

We own a large set of Monte Carlo 14g, its collecting dust mostly now but they will get their turn in the rotation with family, we have an even larger set of 08 Casino Royale 14g slugs that I have future plans for an extreme deep stack for 30 plus players with those chips! Absolutely nothing wrong with them.

I still say buy samples and make sure you are happy with the chips before you invest. But find your budget... stick to it! Alsonever ever touch Paulsons or TRKs or you will be ruined and right back here serching classifieds broke AF like the rest of us!!!
Best of luck on your chipping journey! Feel free to PM me any time with any questions! Fellow Chipper Ben
The other 15 sets are stored in cases lolOk, so yes, slugged chips from Apache will get it done. There are many other vendors out there with some complete crap that look identical. Stickers fall off, colors not consistent, etc. So I think buying from a known vendor is important.
Also, Ben, that picture... I somehow expected more chips.

Always welcome! When the world goes back to normal, you know I have to take a drive down to meet you and Brie and lose a bunch of money.
The world will be back to normal @Seeking Alpha Social Club this Saturday. Set your alarm for 7am, jump on 95 south by 8am and you’ll be eating burgers and dogs by noon and splashing pots by 2pm.When the world goes back to normal, you know I have to take a drive down to meet you and Brie and lose a bunch of money.

Meet Blackbeard and Princess, do a shot or 2 of sanitizing Fireball and drag an occasional pot or two. Gonna be groovy!
Once you go MD/VA squad you dont ever go back. It changes your life forever...lolMy god that sounds so awesome. I will take you up on that as soon as it's safe enough to do so.
See @Milroddd ... Become one of us and meet some awesome people and make some cool friendships. Can't do that with dice chips!
Wait, we're trying to save him money? Ok, then buy a box or two of Tiddlywinks and you're good to go.Dice chips are fine, the only thing that matters for a home game is having denominations. Aside from that, don't splurge, and get away from the site as fast as possible.
True that!!!Once you go MD/VA squad you dont ever go back. It changes your life forever...lol
The 14g plastics a leaps and bounds ahead of that dice chip garbage. I would avoid the dice chips like the plague.
That said, if you have a decent budget, you can get some fantastic china clays like the Royals from apache. It’s will cost you, but save you $ in the long run (ie the more time you spend on this site, the more you’ll be sucked into the darkside). Protect your wallet now. Get out now before the sickness gets you.
Thanks for all the responses but it was 2am where i live so i'll respond now,i play texas hold'em and also blackjack but the main focus is hold'em.I don't bet real money it's just to play with family and friends so therefore the stakes and limits don't matter so much only the numbers on the chips.Number of players would be max 6/7.budget is 80$.Neither. Go with tournament denoms, it’s more fun for play money.Ooof! $80 is tight. You can get a set of 500 chips from Apache in the $.15 / chip range at that price. Since you're not really keeping track of buy-ins since it's for your family, I would assume you could probably get away with a 400 chip set. Breakdown is interesting since you don't have a buy-in; you're just giving a fixed amount to every player. Normally, in a small cash game, I would say this kind of breakdown would work:
100 50c
140 $1
120 $5
40 $20
But you could also do something with higher denominations too, depending on which chips you like (as long as you keep similar ratios). Some of 15c/16c chips have different denominations too (like $2, $10, etc) ...I think you should figure out what the actual starting stack value is for each player and then figure out your breakdown from there. If you choose something like $20 / player, you'd use the above smaller denominations. If you choose $1000 / player, then you'd need higher denominations. When I play with my kids, they love when I break out the $100's and up chips b/c it makes them feel like high rollers.
Blackjack is harder since it pays 3 to 2 (hence the need for a $2.50 chip. But if you don't allow certain bets, it won't be a problem.
