HI Guys,

Sorry if this has been asked before but does anyone have a UK suggestion for TSP equivalent for ultrasonic cleaning that's actually available in the UK?

Lundmark TSP is not available in the UK.

Very Best
Chris

Couple of things.
-Real TSP works great to clean (non HotStamped) Paulsons. Is TSP outlawed in the UK? If not, get it. It's cheap and efficient.
-"Lundmark TSP" appears to be TSP-free, with sodium metasilicate as its primary ingredient. This is based on reading/asking people here and this link - the "disclosure page" from Lundmark. I have never bought the stuff because real TSP is legally sold in Canada (or at least Quebec).
-The stuff in the above (^your) link is sodium metasilicate. If you buy it, get the "pentahydrate" version. It will be cheaper, easier to store, and the version quoted in all posts here, so you won't be converting measures.

OK, just checked the pricing page for your link. The anhydrous is cheaper! Get that one, open it after you receive it, leave the top off and it will get even cheaper. The anhydrous sodium metasilicate will absorb water, gain weight and become sodium metasilicate pentahydrate! It may also turn into a giant, solid block.

Firstly I bough the pentahydrate version.... do you have any ideas on how much to use - have had a really good search and have failed to find anywhere that suggest number of grams per litre of water.

The tutorial on this site suggests a couple of tablespoons of the Lundmark stuff but it is not the same from what I can tell. Elsewhere on the internet I have seen 10g to 125g per litre!

I did one trial with a single table spoon for 5 litres of water and it did nothing!!!

I don't have an ultrasonic. US owners would be the best to ask.

For hand cleaning with an electric toothbrush, I used a copy of the Diamond Chip Cleaner solution sold by a vendor (The Chiproom?). It consisted of a mixture of TSP, washing soda (calcium carbonate), and baking soda (calcium bicarbonate). I will search for the recipe that I have somewhere. As I recall (it's been years), there was a fair amount of the TSP involved. 10 -125 g/l sounds more correct than 1 Tsp/5 litres (I would think 1 Tsp is close to a 1-2 grams, so that's .2-.4g/l) - it was probably closer to 25g/l. There was a lot of washing soda involved as well.

With the real stuff I use 1 tablespoon per 1.5 L.

It is a wall cleaner as prep for painting. Look in the paint section of the hardware store.

Make sure the water is the right type (distilled) and the correct temperature. Look in the ultrasonic cleaning thread.

You can found Trisodium phosphate in Netherland :

Shipping to UK is available :

It's not packaged in a bag (like on the picture) but in a bucket.

It work very well. That's the equivalent of the original TSP (not the phoshate free), DON'T USE THIS ONE ON HOTSTAMP.

You don't want to use real TSP. It will fade the colors too much. You want the fake shit with sodium metasilicate in it.
