Ok to be fair, it's true they are out of production which makes them extremely rare. But still, i don't think it justifies the prices i'm seeing listed around on eBay and my own country's version of craigslist. I'm seeing between $5-7 USD per chip for a full set. That's ridiculous.

Well, depends. Someone's gross chip rack is someone else's Grail. There is such a variation of tastes that every section has a buyer. For every group who want mint THCs, ya got someone like Wonder puddle who takes some bike tires and makes a jaw dropping set.

Price is dictated by the market, but I'll say the market went nuts a while ago, so the statement that they are overpriced isn't exactly wrong...

Easiest way to not fall into that trap is to stay within your budget. Know how much you can spend per rack. Then if some Paulsons fall into that range, that would make them a deal....

Beginning to feel like so much of the eBay market is about leaving overpriced items up there until somebody gets drunk and clicks buy.
here’s a good example - it isn’t egregious, just typical. These are great old diamond mold Paulsons in decent condition with some kind of monogram hit stamp. Around here, these chips might go for 50 cents apiece 1 I saw better versions of these sell here just last night for a lot less than that. But on eBay they’re listed for about a buck apiece. It’s kind of annoying, but that’s eBay:

These aren't Paulson diamond mold, they are old ASM DISQ mold chips. They don't seem to be in the greatest condition, so I'd put their fair market value at about $90-100, without the rack. They might be able to be turned into something quite nice after milling, though.

Wow, you’re right. I saw them last night and I guess I didn’t look closely enough. Anyway, that would explain why they didn’t show up when I searched for “Paulson diamond” today. Anyway, the point is the same. Decent chips, just not $300 decent.

fair market value is what im told

You have to change the filter to show what items were sold for, not look at what people are asking.

The owner paid close to $20,000 to get this set. You are getting this in a great discount and no sales tax!!

Just sayin'...the ad says so!

I would argue that in an open market, any item is neither overpriced or underpriced...its exactly where it is because buyers are setting that value. You COULD argue that Paulsons are not worth the price, and that's fine as an opinion...but as long as theres someone willing to buy it, THAT's the current price.

You cannot disagree with those fine words:)
