Any use one of these? Was trying to find a real casino tray, but no luck so far. Any good experiences with these?

I use a wooden version of this to hold my starting chips for all of my games. It isn't beautiful, but it is quite handy. Mine holds ten starting stacks, suitable for a single table game.

It didn't cost much, and turned out to be something I use almost every game.

Just in case it isn't obvious, when you are talking drive times in Texas and New Mexico, you better be specific about where you are going.

In very rough terms, Texas is 800 miles x 800 miles. It is a long 12+ hours drive to cross the state, more if you stop to rest and recharge.

El Paso to "New Mexico" can be as short as an hour or less or as long as six hours plus. New Mexico is the fifth largest state, something like 350 miles x 350 miles. Beaumont, TX to Four Corners, NM is 1,100+ miles or 18 hours drive.

You should not be thinking "fun Sunday drive". This is a hellacious drive when you get to West Texas - - hours and hours of nothing. Occasionally 100+ miles between gas stations. If you leave the major highways, you might be shocked how horrible the roads are. That is true for New Mexico as well as Texas.

I live here, drive here and don't have many fond memories of the journey. Some of the vistas are breath-taking. Perhaps worth the ride. But not something you should undertake casually.

It is worth every penny to let the post office take the package -=- DrStrange

Had to look at a map. Couldn’t have remotely guessed where places like Lubbock and Odessa and Corpus Christi were. I guess it’s not short drive from Austin. I’m just excited to be near chippers again. Indy was a dead zone.

If Covid is a bit calmed down, I plan on making it out to the New Mexico meetup with the wife, so we might enjoy a nice drive together as the first week without the kids in...holy crap since they were borne. You’ll be getting some messages/questions from me @DrStrange, no doubt.

Amen to all of this. Lots and lots of nothingness in every direction.

Had no clue you settled on TX, Jeff. Hopefully will see you at the Angelfire meet up if it's still going down.

Just looked it up. It's a 7 hour drive to New Mexico from Texas. Can you make 2 of whatever this cart is?
Oh and as for the cart - it's nothing too difficult or innovative lol. Considering building from scratch, but a few members have used this and said it was solid so why mess with success. Just taking one of these and slicing up the top for a chip tray. Will use for chip storage and the tray for in game

Yeah I need to update the thread, thank folks, and let some know additional questions are coming.

Austin was at the forefront and won out. I’ll need to bring an SUV to Angelfire. I’ll take a cart, a chair, lights, and whatever else Jeepology Shop is producing these days. Coasters, powder coated rims, whatever.

I was using two of this kind treys. I recommend as a product but not sure how much they been sold.
One of them survived crash on the sidewalk from 1.5 m hight.
Two issues. First lock Sims to malfunction after few years but it's possible to replace it. Secondly if you put it flat on surface it works fine, in other case I recommend filling cover with foam

What is that Bomb? :)

I didn't know you had chosen either! I lived in Austin for 7 years, so know all to well about Texas distance driving! It's a good spot, y'all will enjoy it.

Hook em!

@davethesave The "bomb" is the blind timer. It sits on the table waiting to blow up your stack. Especially so in the event where I took that picture.

That was a charity event for the local Rotary Club with a rock solid 10:00 pm cut off. Each blind level was seven minutes. I didn't set the terms - the sponsor set the 8:30 start time, 10:00 end time and it was up to me to figure out the rest. Didn't matter though. Everyone had a great time.

The winner! It was a 50%/50% event. The charity got half of the buy ins and the winner took the rest.

I love the bomb timer!

We use a Death Star timer for our actual bomb pots, but I should use it as the tournament blind timer too!

Where did you get this? Or is it homemade?

I would really like to make some wooden trays but can't find any decent instructions on creating the actual grooves. I'm assuming router bit would be the best bet but I don't know what size or if thats the play.

My wooden tray was $9.99 + shipping on eBay, It was a whim, I did not appreciate how much use this tray would get.

It looked to me as if someone had crafted the tray as a dealer's station for their poker table and then decided not to go that way. There is no way anyone is making that to sell for $10 and hope to make a profit.

Do you have a link to this cart? I've looked at these pictures before and I've personally been looking for a similar solution.

Come to find out - I don’t think they make it anymore. There is a smaller one but not as cool

So when the bomb timer goes off it means that the blinds double or?
Well I use it in a cash game situation.

So for me, when the Bomb Pot timer goes, off, the next hand is a bomb pot = everyone throws in a pre-determined amount (we do $1 each for a 25c/50c NLH game). The players get dealt their hole cards and we go directly and deal out the flop with no preflop action. The rest of the hand plays out normally, but all players are in and the pot is juiced.

The action on these hands is usually spicy.

I think @DrStrange was using it as an auditory indicator that the blind level has progressed.

No preflop action! WOW! So about double the big blind.

I am loving this idea.

Is there a thread that has gimmicky types of things that get action or make games spicy like this? I am loving this bomb pot idea.
Is it just any old timer or do places actually sell these bomb pot lil gadgets?
