I really hope this is actually a joke.

Saw this today on Twitter on Darren Rovell's timeline after he tweeted: "Here it is...What a poker table in casino will look like in June 2020"

Doesn't make much sense to me if this is actually true. Too many issues with this setup. The big one to me is what about the chips, which are a magnet for germs and bacteria from our hands? I always Lysol spray the heck out of my chips after every home game and let them dry off before putting them in the cases. Will probably soak them in Bleach going forward (I kid, but will double Lysol spray them if/when I can host a game again).

If plexiglass at casino poker tables is indeed the future, I wonder how much it would cost for us regular people hosting home games to have that put on our tables if we want them? Might need to take out a second mortgage on the house!

I feel like this is more liability mitigation than risk mitigation.

In other words, they are protecting their asses not our asses.
You are correct @Eloe2000. The casino industry is going to do whatever maximizes profit while minimizing risk (literally what casinos always do anyway), and being able to demonstrate that they made effort and expense to prevent people from getting sick is what will likely save them in any potential future lawsuit. Great call.

I'm glad they're at least picking a removable option for their CYA period. I can at least picture playing at these tables until a vaccine is found, but an all-electronic table like I heard some people whispering about would've been totally inconceivable and most likely permanent.

You led me to believe it was safe, with all the plexiglass dividers, but then I got sick from your dirty chips . . .

They'll have an out with "we kept respiratory droplets as minimal as possible, we can't control if they touch their face with their dirty hands but we controlled whatever was out of theirs."

It sucks, I don't see a good answer arising anytime soon

Casinos & card rooms are going to probably go with any and all precautions for the near future just to open and get asses in the seats!
