Question for all you quarantined degens.

If one was to host a bad beat jackpot for an online poker room that spread NLHE, PLO, and Congress (God’s Game) with a single prize pool - what would you expect a qualifying hand to be?
Would that hand be subject to the game? Or would it be set across all tables, variance be dammed?

Asking for a friend.

Depends on how often you want the jackpot to "hit" I suppose.

The lowest qualifiers I have ever heard of in a casino is Aces full of 8s beat by quads for hold'em and quads beat for Omaha.

If you're wanted something to play more frequently then maybe I could see flush beat by full house in hold em. In Omaha that would be way too frequent, I think it would have to be full house beat by quads if you were to lower the requirements.

Additional note, I think you would have to segregate the pools by game.

Can't have two pools, software limitations. So I'm pondering options.

Hmmm, then yeah. Since it's software, maybe best thing to do is see if you can get sample hand histories for analysis and figure out the right frequency for once in a 10,000 hand beat (or whatever frequency you would be seeking.). You have to do some calibration here since you would be mixing games in one pool.

Otherwise, I would just say trial and error.

Agreed, too high for a home game.

Also too frequent for hold'em, IMO.

A bad beat will be way more likely to hit in PLO than in Hold'em. If you want them to have the same frequency, there needs to be two different qualifiers. Or maybe pay out a %age of the jackpot if it hits in Omaha.

Can you have tables that offers the BB jackpot and some that don’t? Or will have to be all or nothing?

I played in a Hold’em & PLO rotation game that had a BB. For Hold’em it was any full house that lost using both hole cards (no PP required). For PLO it was Quads or better had to loose. It was never hit in PLO in 2 years of weekly playing. Obviously an online game with many more hands will have it happen at some point.

Yes I can. I'm not looking for a huge jackpot - maybe $500 or so. My home game has aces full beaten as the holdem qualifier and it his once a year or so for about $1k. Our mixed game bad beat is quads beaten and it's never hit in 2 years.

So I was thinking aces full being the qualifier online - I do like the mixed game rotation idea and only for select tables. I might look at that.

A great idea. Although in my game, most of the BBJ would be funded from Omaha, as that's what's running the most. So would a % be needed? If NLHE hits it 1/3 of the time, it's a trade off?

Aces full beaten is common in 5-card PLO8 where you have a lot of incentive to stick around pre with Ace and a wheel card, and pick up boats fairly easily. This is gonna happen a LOT when the board has two aces which isn’t that rare.

I would assume NHLE would hit much less of a share of the time if the criteria were the same. Maybe 5% or so.

(God’s Game)

5 card double board PLO?

In

and why the fuck has this not been available as of yet. There should a table that rotates between big o and gods game (unless you have a different gods game).

So the program doesn't keep track of the hands automatically, you keep track manually?

The players involved would need to send me the hand number and I would pull hand history from the logs to verify.

Wait a minute, so if you are paying the jackpot manually, you could segregate the jackpots. I assume if you turn the collection on, you can get a report of how much you collect from each table, or at least a summary of how many hands dealt on each table and you can base the totals on that?

Agreed, I was thinking of something that would probably pay out every night. Now that I understand the parameters, that too low.

So if it were me, without really doing the math, I would propose any full house cracked in hold'em, both hands must have two playable hole cards to qualify. (Hole cards beat or tie the board.)

In Omaha I would raise that to aces full beat by quads with at least one ace for a hole card for aces full to qualify.

Segregate the jackpots by either getting the report of rake per table or counting hands in the history and prorating.

Has anyone had a BBJ in their home game? Is it possible? Also, I am assuming that the loser must show their cards in order to qualify? From what I am gathering, it is Aces Full beaten (both hole cards used) to qualify?
