Hopefully I'm about to pull the trigger on the chip room sale this weekend, and I'm trying to find a good breakdown. (almost tempted to buy more than needed and sell what I don't need it'll just depend if I end up lucky enough to get the T10k tourney set also) Right now I'm thinking

.50 x 100
1 x. 200
5 x 200
25 x 60
100 x 20
500 x20

The game is a 1/2 game and I realize I'll most likely never use the 500s but man I like them!! I also can't really justify the .50s but I also like them. Maybe a possible relabel as a snapper?

Yep. I'm guessing fives will be your work horse chip. You could probably get away with only 100 to 150 ones. They'll probably only be used pre flop.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Probably go 300x5 may still stick with 200x1s just because more chips!!

Unless your $1/2 game plays very small or short handed you are light on $5, & $25’s as well.

I’d bump the $5’s to 400 and a full rack of $25’s

I would prefer 200 x 1, but I wasn't sure if you were trying to budget it or not.

What is your buy in for the 1/2 game? What is your average total amount on table at the end of the game?

It actually plays really small in my opinion. Buy in ranges from 60-200. Average buy in is probably 100 with me being the one who buys in for the max. A lot of the games are 6 handed and there is normally 2-3k on table at the end of the game if it's 6 handed. Most I've seen on the table in the last few months is around 5k. Guys tend to bet way to small most of the time (they don't understand pot odds and all that good stuff) May be 100 in the pot and they are only betting 15-20 on river.

Get the 50c chips for sure and have the game move to 50/50c. That is more realistic to what you are playing and will give everyone deeper stacks.

6-handed, plays small with an average of $2k-$3k on the table with a recent max of $5k?!?!?
That is not small in my opinion. That is an average of $400-$500/person.

Anyway, I agree with the others, more $5s.

80/160/360/160/40, 0.50/$1/$5/$25/$100
That seems to be a really good breakdown for your game. Add the $500s if you like them, but like you said, they will probably never see the felt.

Agreed. I like the idea of being deeper stacked (partially because it raises my advantage due to the extreme softness of the game) .50/.50 seems so low though, may drop to .50/1. with buyins ranging from 50 to 200.

100x .50
200x 1s
200 x5s
60x25s
20x100s
20x500s (just for the sake of having them)

Would that work if I moved it to .50/1. I haven't played 50/1 in a long long time.

Playing 1/2 I feel like we almost ran out or did run out of chips every time we played with the breakdown of a set that I previously owned and that would be 4-6 handed so by the time it was said and done I reckon we averaged about 400ish total buy-in/rebuys per player.

160x1s
80x5s
60x20s
6x100s

Total bank: 2360

We play 0.50/$1 or $1/$1 for the most part and this breakdown would be too small for our games. Granted, our games seem to play larger than most on PCF

I'm pretty new here, so I'd listen to the other guys. However, I can tell you what I did as a new chipper with a very similar game size.

Bank
$0.25100$25
$1200$200
$5400$2,000
$2575$1,875
$10025$2,500
Total800$6,600

This set works for our group from 25p/50p right up to a smallish £1/£2 like you described.

Perfect for the flexibility you want within the games you play. Well done.

I dig this breakdown... and agree on skipping the $500s.

My only change would be to go 60/40 (or 80/20) on the 25s/100s... but that has not hing to do with the breakdown, just having full barrels in the rack. :p

Just FYI... with the percentage limitations, 100/200/400 won't be allowed.

You'd need to do 200/300/400 to get the $5s below the 40% denom cap.

Based on the percentages allowed would ideal not be

.50x100
1x200
5x200
25x80
100x20

For a 600pc set. Granted u could probably take 1s down to like 160 and 5s up to 240. But I like even racks. Also I just can’t help but get the 500s so will either do 10x100 10x500. Or something else along that line. Originally wanted a barrel of 500s but may stick to a half

Depends what you mean by “ideal” and how many players/tables you plan on covering.

200x $5s is a small number for a single table 1/2 game, especially since they will be your workhorse chip.

With 9 players buying in at $200 each, you’ll exhaust all of your $5s after only 5 buyins.

400x of the $5s allows for 9 buyins and one rebuy before you have to roll out the higher denoms.

Looking to cover a single table. Most of the time we are playing 6 handed. I kind of like the idea of lowering the blinds to .50/1 since that allows for deep stack play, and I feel like the amount of cash in circulation would be the same. With 5-6 people our average total pot has been around 2k so the average person is contributing roughly 400 in a night. Even if we start having 9-10 people in games I would never expect the amount on the table to surpass 10k unless all my buddies win the lottery at the same time in which case buying chips won't be an issue lol. Assuming 10k on the table max and that's a bigggg stretch considering the most I can recall being on the table at once was 4500ish, I feel like the following breakdown would work (granted ideally there would be more 5s but that can't happen due to percentage limits on the sale (at least for the first hour)

100x .50. $50
200x 1. $200
200x 5. $1000
60 x 25. $1500
30 x100 $3000
10 x 500 $5000

That leaves the total bank above 10k and realistically the 500s won't see action and we would still have a bank that is well above the most that's ever been on the table at once. Ideally I would get 300-400 5s but thats' not doable due to percentage limits and me not wanting to fork out the cash for a 1000pc set

Get what you NEED as fast as possible during a chip room sale. As in have everything set up, logged into PP already. The $500 may sell out instantly and screw up your checkout or the added time to try and get them costs you something else. Since you don’t need them go for what you do need first. Then place another order if you can to get the $500’s.

Then at the 1 hour point try for more $5’s.

Gotcha. I live in rural MS so my internet is nothing to brag about, I played around with a few links to get a feel of how it all works. due to the 5 percent limit on the 500s I'd think that it would at least last 2 min. which is plenty of time for me to get checked out. But then again, I have no experience here. I've also come to the realization that the odds of me getting that tourney set and then going back and getting a cash set are probably very very slim, so I think I'm just going to attempt a cash set since I'm primarily a cash guy anyways.

Have you checked out the madness in previous Jack sales? Check out the posts and timestamps:

No harm in trying for your 500s, and your latest breakdown looks like it gives you an easy change by dropping them from the cart if they're sold out at that amount without needing to rebalance. But, as others have said, a full playable set @ chiproom prices is better than paying premiums to complete your set later.

I actually just finished looking at previous sales to figure out what to expect. If the 500s are sold out at the amount I want (10), I'll definitely just drop them completely and it won't impact percentages. I guess it all comes down to how many 1,5,25, and 100s are available.

I also just went to a old jacks thread and clicked links, adjusted quants, and all that good stuff to see how long it takes and it took me a little under 2 min. to get it all done, (PayPal loading screen is hit or miss).
