Hi folks, I love my CPS cash set... unfortunately a lot of the players in my home game get the .5 & .25 mixed up.
I may be in the market to sell that set (and Majestic tourney set, but that’s for another post) and pick up a new set.
What’s out there that has .5 chips?

Yeah get the BCC set. Every set I've ever put together has T5 chips or 5c chips, and usually I'm doing something custom to get them.

Can we see some chip pron? I'm interested in seeing both sets you might be unloading.

“I think I’m in love” Eddie Money playing in my head when I looked at those customs! Exactly what I envision having! The $20 plaques... icing on the Ice Cream Cake! Absolutely beautiful set friend
The plaques are just Presidential plaques from Apache - Gene and Kristil from brpropoker.com made the chips. They got a posting here at PCF with a code for 15% off everything to celebrate the new website they got running now. Let that 15% off be the excuse to get something from them!

Those plagues fit real nice with that set

With micro stakes sets a lot of people either get $20 chips that never see the light of day or end up letting $20 bills play when things get too adventurous. These plaques kind of split the difference between the two. Also once a month I get a little single table tournament with a $20 bounty - these plaques work perfect for that too :)

You’re totally right, got $25 chips in my CPS... never been touched. But the .5/.25/1.00 & 5.00 saw play.
Your custom set is one of my favorites on here, they did a wonderful job and I hope everyone in your game appreciates em (the only criticism or praise I get from my crew is of course their old ass eyes can’t differentiate the .5 & .25 very well sometimes and I or someone else has to remind em and that’s when the complaints come in lol)

That is why I went with the bright pink for a nickel, the grayish blue for the quarter, white dollars, and dark red 5's. If someone screws that up we send them to medical professionals to find out what's wrong with them :cool

Great line lol seriously love that set for real! I just don’t think I could justify the kinda dough for custom ceramics. Still hoping to upgrade my current set though

You are asking if you can justify spending that much on custom ceramics - the question you should be asking is "how much more am I going to waste on this before I finally give up on it and solve the actual problem". I know exactly how you feel on this - I never spent this much on a set of poker chips either. Hell I have bought cars for less than this and those cars lasted for YEARS, but what I did do was make sure that when I spent that hard earned money I solved a permanent problem with a permanent solution. I will never have to buy another cash set - EVER - and the amount of money I am saving by doing this the right way the first time is HUGE (I hope you don't think I am yelling at you - I am not. I am just making sure you know what you are doing). Besides I just looked at Apache's website for CPS chips - I spent less per chip on my customs from brpropoker than they are charging for CPS that is also out of stock, and I ordered before the new website went up and did not get the 15% off that they are offering all of us PCF'ers right now.

Just think about it man - I know it is a big investment, and I know money doesn't grow on trees (hell I am a factory worker with two kids that I HOPE I can send to college so they do better than me). Just remember, whether you do go with ceramics or not, whatever money you spend is gone. Is it being spent smartly, or are you going to be right back where you are 6 months to a year from now with even less money still trying to solve the same problem you have now.

This right here needs to highlighted by an admin or mod because that’s the real talk right there. Thank you for your words of wisdom I really appreciate it! I’m gonna have a serious discussion with wife about this and bring up these points, not in a trying to convince kinda way but I’d have her read your msg and just say “true, though :D
You’re good peoples, everyone here is though and I wish I hadn’t been off the grid for so long. Not sure I could get an idea together before the cut off on the 15% off (I admit I had been thinking of ideas while at work)

That is part of why I went the semi custom route - I really liked the look of the valentinos, going semi custom let me get denominations in colors that worked for me, and I didn't have to put serious thought into design seeing as how that is taken care of for me! Go look through their website (thank GOD they updated it finally) see what semi custom options exist, and maybe you will get lucky. And if cost is an issue, semi custom jobs are cheaper than full custom jobs :)

I’m gonna look right now lol
And honestly I have a 397 (plus 10 plaques) Majestics tourney set that’s never been used to sell and my CPS cash (which has seen the felt but still in damn near mint condition) is 700 chips deep to sell and both I’d have on the market at fair market value or below for quick sale. I’d like to believe that both of those would put a fat dent into cost of customs/semi customs

Your majestics tourney set is the exact reason why my tourney chips are still plastic sluggos - they come out 3 to 4 times a year. The cash set comes out more than that per month!

I have CPS tourney set (1000 chips deep) that everyone enjoys (as much as people that honestly don’t give a shit can lol) so I just never break out the Majestics.
I’m looking @brpropoker right now and man I’m ready to buy 700 Valentino high roller semi custom right now! Those colors fahgettaboutit!

To each their own - I preferred the old school classy look of the regular valentino, but hey the high rollers aren't bad either. Just be warned you will need to go the semi custom route to get your nickel chips, but you saw what I was able to do with the big changes in chip colors between denominations so that isn't exactly a bad thing

I dig it man, I love the classy look too (obviously because I praise your chip set lol)
Those colors really pop and going the semi custom route is the only way to go. If I pull the trigger, I think I might add some more to sample and hook my bro up. You :cool

here's what i did considering the same dilemma. I also like the idea that this set can scale up to be $5, $25 & $100 versus, 5c, 25c & $1

these are custom ceramics from Sal's days. He taught me about using a color flip book to get colors to print the way you expect. I chose Color Index 2 by Jim Krause. That guy was so cool (Salvatore)

Don't worry about me man - it's all good. I am just glad to see something other than overpriced Paulson chips getting love here. I get it - they are old school, they are collectors items, but man the only reason these chips are worth what they sell for is people here will pay that to get them! Poker chips are not investment tools or financial assests, they are poker chips! Buy what you like, be happy, and enjoy the fun of the games played with friends man - that is what life is all about.
