Hi, Bill.
The chip is not an accidental misprint, but it's rare, just the same. Here's what happened.
We sell enough chips these days that we almost always have an order pending with Classic Poker Chips.
In mid-August, David Spraag emailed to say that Classic got a new printer, and they were testing it to be sure it was up to their standards. At the time, they were making some Key Wests, so they printed "a few" sample chips using the new printer and marked the inlays with a small red dot above the "in" in
"Casino" on the inlay. As you can see, the print quality is excellent.
They separated the chips into an envelope and shipped them with our regular order, which also included 100s. I can't recall exactly how many were in there, but I think it was around five or six sample chips.
When I receive any new chips, I always inspect each one for any flaws or spin. I look at both sides and the rolling edges for flaws, and try to spin the chips on a glass plate. If I see a noticeable flaw or if the chips spin, I pull them out, and they never make it to the inventory. (It's very rare to find a flaw in Classic's shipments, and they always send a few extra chips, just in case. )
That shipment was pretty large, and somehow the "Red Dot 100" chips got mixed in, probably because they were set aside on a table used for inspecting the chips. We pull sample chips from boxes of our regular inventory, so it looks like one of them made it into your sample set.
I have four of those chips here, and you have one. There may be one or two more out there.
I'd be happy to replace it with a new Key West $100. Just PM to let me know.
... and thanks to
@Josh Kifer for alerting me to this!
