Hey everyone new to the forum. I'm sorry in advance if this is an often posted request but I'm pretty overwhelmed with which direction to go. I've been tasked to get chips for a friend of mine. The few places I've tried didn't seem very professional.

I'm looking for a high quality chipset to be used for 2-5 to 10-25plo. They need to have a logo on both sides preferably (they're different pictures) but at least on one side.

My buddy wants the chips to be slightly bigger as the values go up. This is one thing that I'm not sure is possible but figured I'd post it. Also matching plaques is a must.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction? I would usually go to through the forums to try to figure it all out but I'm kind of in a rush and don't want to get paralyzed by too many options.

Would it be possible to get this done within a few weeks? I am located in Canada by the way. Thanks so much

I don’t know the budget, but you could get majestic 39mm for low denoms and get royals 43mm for higher denoms. Basically same labels with different “card room” names. You can always order blank ones in whatever color scheme you want to use and then get custom labels to make them all match. You’ll have the 39mm transition to the 43mm oversize denoms . That seems the most cost-effective efficient and readily available thing to do. Although they are China clays, but pretty great quality ones.

That time frame might make it a little difficult. A few options.

The cheapest:

@Apache poker has 39mm Majestic chips.....

.....and 43mm Royal chips that share the same mold. You could mix and match these if are looking for different sized chips.

Once you purchase these, you would then need to work with an artist and label maker here to get your custom labels made and replace them with your custom labels.

Mid level:

Getting custom sun-fly chips made. These are ceramic chips with with inlay that comes in both 39mm and 43mm sizes and are completely customizable. Below is an example of an awesome set of these that were made. Not certain on total cost or time-frame details but might be able to get these in a few weeks and others could help you out if interested.

High Level:

Jack's Detroit was a Casino that never opened but their chips recently went up for sale. These too came in 39mm and 43mm sizes. You could buy these and relabel them. However, these are very pricey. Expect to pay $3/chip minimum for them.

Do you have artwork ready to go? Or access to a graphic artist that will do a rush job for you?

If not, I just don’t see a way to pull this together that fast. I’d say a week to 10 days is probably possible for labels once you have artwork.

If you’re looking for the highest quality chips with bigger chips for the higher denominations for the stakes you noted above and you’re not looking to make /apply your own labels there’s only one choice:

39mm size - $0.25-$5
43mm size - $20-$100

Wow guys thank you so much for all the detailed responses. I seriously appreciate it!

Opening question - what is the budget for the set?

My buddy is comfortable spending like 3K usd. Not sure where that lands us on the spectrum in regards to custom chips.

When you order your own labels do they stay on properly? I never really thought about this as an option. Cool idea.

Yes we do have artwork that has been used for quite a few different templates but not positive of the kind of specs poker chips may need. My buddy wants a logo on both sides with classic color denominations but with no numbers. I'm not sure it's the greatest idea tbh.

Those look pretty nice, is there a website I can look at more options? Also, when it comes to customer service which companies have good communication? Seems like a lot of people just claim they are going to get back but never bother lol.

Thanks again everyone!

$3K is quite a big budget. Not for the rarest of chips, but will give you lots of excellent choices.

However, your friend's wishes fall short of what most veteran collectors here would consider feasible or desirable.

1) Chip sizes: the vast majority of good quality chips are 39mm diameter, with some available at 43mm diameter. There do exist smaller (36mm) and larger (47mm+), but they are rarer and you'll never find a whole set from anywhere in all these sizes. You would have to build the set piece by piece and be prepared to put a lot of work into customizing them with your own after-market custom art stickers. Not for the faint of heart.

2) Denominations: you might be able to get away with a non-denom set for a tournament set, but a non-denominated set for a cash game (especially a high stakes cash game) would be frowned upon. You want the security and playability of a well-designed and clearly denominated set of chips that work not only with base colour, but also edge spot colours and patterns (the "progression").

3) Breakdown: this is the important part, because deciding how many chips you need in the most efficient quantities allows for accurate budgeting. You've stated the stakes, but how many players? What is the initial buy-in? How much bank do you need to cover (basically the most money ever on the table at one time +50-100% fudge factor)?

As a temporary vendor (and in Canada), I can easily quote you for what I think you'd need, and with casino quality chips that are in stock. But it does no great service to you if you haven't nailed down your detailed want/need list, your time frame, and what the viable alternatives are.

Don't tease this new member with chips that aren't readily available. Sure, the Aurora Star chips might check off some of the wants on his list, but who's likely to be selling a set in the denominations that he'll need? I don't think that $3K will get very far if we are skewing the chip breakdown to the high denominations ($25+) where they can get to $5-$8 per chip.

Thanks again everyone!
Having chips with no dollar values on them makes sense if you want to use a chipset for different stakes on different nights. So if you’re playing 2/5 on one night, the smallest chip could be worth a buck that night. When you’re playing 10/25, the smallest chip could be worth five bucks. This allows you to spread different games with a smaller chipset - maybe it’s the difference between buying 1,000 chips and 1,5000 chips.
But you say you want the chips in classic colors for the denominations. I assume you mean something like white for $1, red for $5, etc. But then making chips with no denominations (to use for different stakes) doesn’t make sense. So why wouldn’t you want numbers on your chips?

Hey Allforcharity,

Thanks so much for going above and beyond with your response. Ill try to address everything as best I can!

I shouldve been more clear about this before but tbh I didn't even think about it. My friend bought two tables so I'm not positive how that changes budget projection and chip distribution. Imo two games starting at the same time is unlikely so I imagine we can chip up players to higher denominations on main table. Is it wrong to assume because of this we won't need double of everything? Sorry if that doesn't make sense.

1) In my opinion chips being different sizes is not worth the headache everyone is describing. By far the most important thing to my buddy is having the custom logo on the chips..

2) I agree the chips need denominations. I can see the angleshooting now without. I think wed just need to find someone to change the artwork and add numbers. Would that suffice?

3) chip breakdown is something I definitely need help with. I've had my own game that was mainly 2-5 but I ended up. With way too many 5s and not enough 25s. When this game goes, like most home games, will play pretty true to blinds. Like it'll almost always start 2-5 with people buying in 200 to 1000 to start but a few hours in can devolve into 4 straddles to 100 etc. I would guess average stack by the end of the night is 5k but could be 8-10k.

And sorry not sure what you meant by fudge factor haha.

Long story short by far the most important thing to my buddy is having his logo on the chips, matching plaques, and turnaround. Please let me know if there's anything more I can answer. Thanks!

Hey Upndown,

Thanks for the response.

My buddy really wants his logo on the chips first and foremost. I think he was worried numbers would conflict with that.. I'm sure it wouldn't be a tough fix.

Not to mention if you were using the same chips for different denoms on different nights then you’ve lost the security that I suspect is being requested with the custom labels.

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense that custom ceramic might be what you're looking for. They can be fully customized on both faces plus the rolling edge, available in a lot of different sizes (and shapes), and the same material in plaques as well. Check out the options at @ABC Gifts and Awards , one of our Vendor sponsors.

Cool, I'll definitely check it out! I personally ordered these ceramics for my game and they were a disaster (sorry if these are anyones chips here).. I loved the feel of them when I ordered a sample but in the long run they were way too slippery. It actually annoyed the players quite a bit. I imagine it was because of the weight?

I thought I was turned off ceramics because of that but I played in a game last week with some real nice ones that didn't slip at all while trying to stack/shuffle.

It’s a doable suggestion with the limited parameters so I don’t think it’s a tease.

@BuckWpkr If you’re looking for the “best” chips available the majority will say you’re looking for Paulsons (not ceramic or CPC though both are good). If you’re looking to do custom inlays/labels then your option open up a lot and there are vendors that sell Paulsons fitting your needs however more details about your game would help us understand what’s actually feasible price wise.

The chips I posted are not sold by any vendor. Any Paulson chips available have to be bought on the secondary market as Paulson doesn’t manufacture chips for public sale anymore so anything you’d be able to buy is from when they did sell to the public or from closed/rebranded casinos for the most part*.

For the current going prices, there aren't many better options out there than the AS cash chips. The $1, $5 and $20 are among my all-time favourites.

ABC Gifts runs a separate site for their custom ceramics business, its here:
https://www.brpropoker.com/custom-info.html

They do 3 different sizes of chips.
With that budget, and the logo ready to go, you could quick figure out your breakdown today and then contact the good folks at ABC/BrPoker and ask for a rush job. Personally, I would expect to be charged both to modify the art and to expedite the order.

With that budget your range of chips is wide open. For fully custom clays Classic Poker Chips is your only option, but expect a turnaround of anywhere from 6-12 months.

For 100% custom with differing sizes and with that short of a turnaround, @ABC Gifts and Awards is your one stop shop. On top of the chips you can also get a wide array of custom logo products, which in my opinion is one of the coolest parts of our little world here.

If we're not trying to slap our custom logos on every little thing then what the hell are we even doing here...

Contact Abbiatti.. High end chips an plaques, look at pdf format brochures at their website.

'Kinda' in that price range... I just ordered 10,000 chips @ $4,000. Seven different denominations, 39mm ceramics.

Given that he wants his logo, they will have to be custom made hence I think your biggest problem will be the few weeks turnaround.

With a $3k budget and an estimate 1000 chips for 2 tables, you can get real compression molded clay from CPC but this can take several months to produce

An alternative will be custom ceramics which will allow your differing sizes. You'll have to talk to a reputable vendor like ABC for production times but it should be feasible to get them within a month.
