Carbon fiber (1 Viewer)

While I wait for the router bits to arrive, I'm working on the rest of the table including the solid walnut dining table cover. Still needs more poly.

Did you kerf bend the apron pieces? Do you spray your poly? It looks great so far. How many more coats are you shooting for?

Yes, yes, as many coats as required to get a nice smooth glossy finish. Probably 2 more.

Can you mill a dealer button out of some of those cutouts??

Yep, I've milled some small pieces before like engravings.

I wonder how light you could make a carbon fiber poker table?

It would be cool to be able to pick up your table with one hand.

Final coat done on the dining table cover. I love walnut...

The poly is dry despite it still looking wet.

LOVE the sapwood! So many guys don't use it, but it adds so much more beauty to the wood. Do you wet sand your poly at any point?

Thanks everyone, the gloss finish is very challenging to get. I don't wet sand between coats, just dry sand with a random orbital (festool). I had to do about 5 coats to get this result.

How will that gloss wear over time? Perhaps the guy doesnt have kids haha.

Typically the glossier the finish the harder it is

Plus he just bought a carbon fiber table.......HELL NO he doesn't have kids, you don't spend money on that type of shit if you do.....or you have enough money that you don't care

Beautiful work I like working with walnut, too. I made my table with it.

I get it from a guy who cuts down trees for about $4.50/board foot for 1" stock. How bad is it up in your neck of the woods?

That is simply stunning. I imagine there will be some serious coin sliding across that surface!

love it - custom defuser - classy

funny how race tracks seem to polarize us huh.

I don't really know what I hate about tables without racetracks but partly I think tables without race tracks look half finished.
