Anyone held a HU tourney before that can help with a structure?

Aiming at 5000 starting stacks but don't want each match to last for ever, so what is a good stack size or bb amount to start with?

Thanks
Paul

I'm curious as to what you came up with. I would like to try this.

for T5000, I'd go 12 minute levels with

25-50
50-100
100-200
150-300
200-400

Should be able to do an 8-player tourney in <3:30, a 16-player in <4:30.

I was always curious about running a HU format... how are you handling the various rounds?

A) At the start of each round, each players starts with T5000 (chip stacks reset)
B) At the start of each round, each player starts with the chips they won previously (Ie. Round 1 stacks: T5000, round 2 stacks: T10000, etc.)

While it might not impact the overall game play, option B does give the 'big stacks' feel to a final table.

So this is BG's go to structure. My assumption then is that if you want a reasonable increase in blinds over time, is that you start with a smaller stack to make sure someone busts out in a reasonable amount of time right (say a 2 hour tourney)?

So say I want a 2 hour heads-up tourney with 15min levels, whats the size of the starting stack if I want to use this blind structure? $1,500?

Lv SB BB
L1 25 50
L2 25 75
L3 50 100
L4 75 150
L5 100 200
L6 150 300
~remove T25 chips
L7 200 400
L8 300 600
L9 400 800
L10 600 1200
L11 800 1600
L12 1200 2400
~remove T100 chips

In an effort to minimize luck, I use a best-two-of-three match format for heads-up tournaments. Each match is designed to last about 30 minutes (T7500 stacks, 6-minute levels), so 1.5 hours max per round (actual average round is about 70 minutes).

BG remind me again what's the BB multiple where you can expect people to bust out?

For example, 2 players, 10k starting stacks, what are the blinds here in heads up when you can expect a bust out? TY

Most events won't last past the level where there are a total of 20 big blinds on the table.
